This New Moon in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio brings our focus to our intimate relationships and deepest emotional desires; if you’d like to learn more about this Lunation, check out my video on the subject 🙂 (will be posted by Oct. 21st in the evening)

Scorpio is the second water sign of the zodiac, so it relates not only to the depths of our own psyche, but also to the ecstasies and traumas of relationships.

Mercury in Scorpio is exalted at the time of this New Moon (due to its station), so we are more aware of our thinking patterns, particularly our tendency to think in extremes or absolutes.

Mercury will come to a halt on Oct. 31st and start its 3-week Retrograde phase. While it is exalted (between Oct. 24th and Nov. 4th), check in with yourself and ask: Is my mind drawn to worst-case scenarios? Am I obsessing over something that feels disempowering? What are my motivations? Am I coming from fear? Self-protection? Or from love? What would it be like to live life fully and completely, feeling empowered in my choices? What will get me 1% closer to that right here and now?

Speaking of the “here and now”, if empowerment only existed in the “now” moment, could I surrender my fears or concerns connected to the past or the future, and simply be present in the here and now? What if I trusted my Higher Self enough to release any suspicious, fearful, or protective thoughts that may arise?

Check to see: Am I ok right now? If I am, is it at least possible that I will be ok in the next moment? And the next?

Feel free to also check out my video presentation about the upcoming Mercury Retrograde phase, to see how all of this is impacting you personally — to purchase this webinar, click here. Before you invest in the whole 99 min. webinar, feel free to watch a 23-min excerpt here.

Star and SuperStar Members: check your email for the link to the mp4-video recording — and enjoy watching it!

Scorpio also deals with our Shadow issues. The “Shadow” is all the suppressed, denied, or undeveloped qualities of our personality — and wherever we have yet to fully integrate these disowned aspects, we feel disempowered, and are left vulnerable to manipulation or domination.

Furthermore, what we reject in ourselves, we often project onto others — we may experience the shadow as explosions with others or implosions within ourselves. That which we disown, owns us; whatever we resist, persists. So, what Shadow issues need to be addressed over the next four weeks?

Here are some questions to help you reclaim your projections…

***

ALREADY A MEMBER? Who do I love to hate? What specifically bothers me about them? How do those characteristics relate to me? If I were able to turn the volume up or down on those characteristics what number on the volume would be a healthy level for each?

Some more questions in the same spirit: Who do I admire and why? What scares me most about myself? What reoccurring, uncomfortable, or scary dreams (or daydreams) do I have? What do I love to joke about that feels just a little uncomfortable?

Noticing our own desires, fears, or sense of humor is important, because the shadow also makes itself visible through those…

With the New Moon making an opposition to Uranus in Taurus, the issue of projections might be heightened; Uranus is the archetype of revolutionary change, daring us to think way, way outside of the box. We may find that we disagree with other people’s values. We may be restless, even anxious, and therefore feel pressure to act (or react), regarding others — these feelings could also be connected to financial decisions or partnerships.

If you experience fear or uncertainty in any of your relationships or partnerships, focus on what it is that you could really get excited about (and get behind) in a realistic, grounded way — something that could make a difference, something meaningful. As best as you can, be open to receiving feedback from others during this time.

If you get entangled in controversy, ask yourself: How open-minded and flexible could I allow myself to be right now? What might be some alternative tool that I could employ, that might allow for greater freedom or diversity in my life (financially or otherwise)?

We also have two quincunx aspects in this New Moon chart. This indicates that we are feeling uncomfortable and are looking for solutions where none seem to be had — this is an inner conflict that is not easily resolved — so we feel this nagging sense of discomfort. The best way to deal with Quincunxes is not to keep looking for the exact solution, but to keep looking for ways to feel ok when things are not an exact match.

The first of these two Quincunxes is between the New Moon and Chiron in Aries. This could create a drop in our self-confidence and self-esteem, leading to some unexpected emotional reactions; as best as you can, be kind and compassionate with yourself — forgive yourself for having a human moment — this will support your healing process.

Ask yourself: What if accepting my own limitations and insecurities lead me down unique paths towards a healthy sense of identity, assertion, and independence — in other words, toward a healthy masculine? What step could I take on that healing path right here, right now?

The second Quincunx is between Mars and Neptune in Pisces, and Mars (the traditional ruler of Scorpio), is currently in Libra. Our idealism and high expectations could lead us into places of emotionally and physically draining frustration, so as best as you can, allow for downtime, rest, and spiritual replenishment.

Ask yourself: How could I give myself some space around connection with others? Around introspection? Could I maybe even create a “retreat” on whatever scale is available to me? Could I grant myself kindness no matter what choices I make? If I start to feel overwhelmed, how could I remind myself to take a pause that realigns me with the present moment, and helps me draw on my trusted inner guidance?

Mars also makes a Square to Saturn in Capricorn. This signifies a maturity process that demands adjustments and flexibility on our part. We tend to be more cautious now and may experience a temporary loss of enthusiasm. We are invited to live life in moderation, which might be frustrating at times.

Ask yourself: What happens when I push too hard? Do things unfold faster when I get impatient? What if anxiety was hiding behind impatience? If that were so, what might I be afraid of happening? What might slowing down do for me, just for the next 10 days? How might a mature approach, with healthy boundaries, support my dealings with others?

Historically, Mars was considered to be the astrological ruler of Scorpio, but upon its discovery in the 1930’s, Pluto took that title and is thus known as the “modern” ruler of Scorpio.

Pluto is now journeying through Capricorn, together with Saturn and the South Node, and all make a Sextile to Neptune in Pisces — and Pluto also sextiles Venus in Scorpio. This presents an opportunity to notice how obsessed we’ve become about manifesting something real, and also to let go of fears connected to our long-term goals.

This transit supports our moving from survival mode to a passionate engagement with life and the society we belong to. A passionate approach is key here, but surprisingly perhaps, so is empowering others.

Ask yourself: Is it at least possible that a trusting emotional connection with others might create more authentic and passionate engagement around what I’m building for the long-term? What might transform if I focused 5% more on what I actually have control over? What roles do self-responsibility, realistic self-assessment, and healthy boundaries play in all of this?

To sum it all up: This New Moon in Scorpio invites us to let go of whatever is dead (or toxic). Often, this is connected to past disempowerments — fears based either on “what was”, or on a possible future in which we would not be ok — and all this can be scary and stir up the desire for control. The survival brain thinks that control brings power, certainty, stability… but it’s all an illusion based in fear.

Remember: “Fear” is resistance to life, whereas “Love” is acceptance of life in all its forms: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Ask yourself: As best as I can, could I acknowledge any self-resistance? Resistance toward others? To life itself? And, just for right now, could I simply let go of wanting to resist what is? Could I set all inner tension free… just as best I can… just for right now… just as an experiment in freedom?

The key is to realize that “letting go” is not about loss, but about transformation — and, ultimately, about feeling empowered, since every ending is also a new beginning.

Trust also plays a big part here, just as it does in all our intimate relationships and authentic connections — and trust, whether in ourselves or with others, is something that develops over time — and for those of us who have experienced traumatic events or circumstances, this process can take a little longer.

As best as you can, allow yourself to integrate all of who you are, even those parts that seem connected to memories of past disempowerments and pain — allow those parts to feel safe and loved — there is nothing to defend or protect. We are most connected to our inner power and passion for life when we don’t reject any aspect of ourselves — not even the parts we think are ugly, ridiculous, or shameful!

Ask yourself: What would it look like if I embraced the full range of human emotion? What would allow me to more consciously work with my emotions — whether good, bad, or ugly? If I had the courage to do this, what might the reward be? What if true intimacy with another were only possible when I allow for the full range of emotions? What if my capacity for love and joy grew exponentially in relation to my ability to embrace my fears and pain?

Flexibility and open-mindedness will definitely help for the next 28 days. Embracing our humanity and practicing self-compassion, especially around our inner processes and limitations, provides an opportunity for healing.

Bonus questions:
Are my perceptions, thoughts, and feelings based on what is actually here now, to my history, or to possible future scenarios?

Just for this “now moment”, could you set memory aside? Could you also set aside imaginary futures and concepts? When you set memory and concepts aside, just looking here and now, what is actually here right now? Really look…

Again, if you’d like to learn more about this Lunation, check out my video on the subject 🙂 The New Moon is also the best time to set some powerful intentions for this month’s Moon cycle. So this month, the best time to set intentions would be any time between 11:39pm (Oct. 27th) and 1:34pm (Oct. 29th); then again from 5:58pm until 11:39pm (on Oct. 29th) — New York Time/US Eastern Time

If you live in a timezone other then EDT (US East Coast-time), feel free to join my Facebook Fan-page or follow me on twitter.
