Important to Express Ourselves — Forecast for Aug. 17th – 23rd
This week’s headline items: Retrograde Uranus in Taurus is still moving slower in the sky (aka stationing) until Aug. 30th; the New Moon in Leo becomes exact on Tuesday late evening; Mercury changes signs from Leo to Virgo late Wednesday evening; on Thursday, Mars starts to slow down (aka “station”), in preparation for its Retrograde phase; the Sun changes signs from Leo to Virgo on Saturday late morning… and from Sunday morning on, it’s time to start taking actions on our New Moon Intentions.
There will be three Moon VoC phases this week: Wednesday very early morning (for almost 3 hours), Thursday late evening (a little over 5.5 hours), and Sunday very, very early morning (almost 6 hours).
Before we get to this week’s forecast, I’d like to mention:

Now, this week’s Forecast…
Monday, Aug. 17th:
Monday, the Moon remains in protective, introverted Cancer. It will journey there until 1:38am EDT. With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say and therefore our feelings are more easily hurt — so be kind to yourself and others. Self-Care is key for the next few hours, if you are awake at that time 😉
Emotional safety is important to us as well; we like connecting to the familiar and we enjoy nurturing ourselves and others — home and family call to us, for instance. Make sure though, that your glass is filled before letting others drink from it, otherwise you might start to feel drained and resentful.
Monday very early morning, a harmonious Mercury/Mars aspect becomes exact at 1:29am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from last week, Friday evening (Aug. 14th) on; it will be strong until this Tuesday evening. This aspect helps us clarify our goals. We act from our courageous, passionate thinking, and a place of joy; we love to be generous, and a playful attitude is also supported.
We are quick, perceptive and brave; interestingly, one of the things we easily perceive is the weaknesses of others. Our minds are more optimistic, so it’s important that we stay realistic. We are expressive; we have lively conversations in which we speak our truth without compromise and yet without coming across as too blunt or offensive — on the other hand, our passion might mean we come across as rather impatient.
We seem to “download” great insights (and make superb decisions) at the very last minute — and the good news is, we can easily turn those insights into workable projects.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 21-27 degrees of Leo, Aries, Sagittarius? If so, you may feel more blessed by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Aries (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Mars rules Aries)
Monday at 1:38am EDT, the Moon moves into fun and attention-loving Leo, where it will journey until Wednesday early morning. We have a chance to appreciate ourselves and our lives — and to connect to the heart. Hand out as many compliments as possible, they will be deeply appreciated 🙂
Fun, games and romance are a big part of this energy. You might also enjoy spending time with little ones. What are you most grateful for today? What would be heaps of fun? What would be so much fun, you squeak just thinking about it? This Moon placement starts the build up towards the New Moon (exact Tuesday late evening).
Monday late morning, a Sun/Mercury alignment in a little over 24 degrees of Leo becomes exact at 11:07am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from last week, Friday evening (Aug. 14th) on, it will remain strong until this Thursday evening. When the Sun and Mercury come together, we are especially sharp, communicative, and open. This aspect indicates a confident mind and an analytical approach to life. Intelligence and communication abilities are strong at this time; however, we may not listen as well as the other speaks — we might be too busy thinking about what to say next.
In general, we have a strong need to take an active role in communications — it is very hard for us to passively listen and absorb information right now. What we say or write now has impact, so as best as you can, choose your words wisely. If people hung on your every word, what would you say then? What would you hold back from saying?
We may be particularly busy/scattered during this time; it may not always be of service to us to take on too much: Choose wisely. Remember that Mercury is still retrograde: Communicate from intuition and make sure that you hear everything that is being said. It could also be that an issue from July 12th is coming up again and needs to be re-addressed…
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 21-27 degrees of Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, or Taurus? Or do you have an Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo, Gemini or Virgo? If so, you will feel…

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 21-27 degrees of Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, or Taurus? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo, Gemini or Virgo (the Sun rules Leo; Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo).
Tuesday, Aug. 18th:
Tuesday is a big day (astrologically speaking)… the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo all day (see Monday very early morning for details).
Tuesday early morning, a somewhat challenging Mercury/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 5:17am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Monday morning on, it will remain strong until Wednesday very early morning. This will contribute either to a lack of mental energy or a need to focus on our commitments with others. This aspect operates more on an internal level: We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward — and we need to make a choice.
The sheer scope of our goals in life can require more effort than is immediately obvious. Hard work can take its toll on our health.
If we partition our big ideas into achievable segments — and go one clear action step at a time — we can move forward while maintaining inner peace and outer health. Use your time wisely! Develop the inner awareness needed, so you can see what needs adjusting.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 25-28 degrees of Leo or Capricorn? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Capricorn (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Saturn rules Capricorn)
Tuesday afternoon, an opportune Venus/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 3:28pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect from last week, Sunday evening (Aug. 16th) on; it will remain strong until this Thursday evening. This gives us the opportunity to experiment with how we relate to others — to do something different or unusual — freedom plays a big part in this aspect.
Of course, others are experimenting too, so you might experience some unusual or unexpected interactions during this time — it’s a favorable time for social meetings and events. As best as you can, stay open and flexible: fresh air is blowing through your relationships.
We’re also ready to experiment with our financial undertakings — good places to look: all things “tech” (electronics, technology, internet); metaphysics; the arts; group activities. This is not the best time to make long-term financial investments not suggested in an intuitive flash 😉
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 8-13 degrees of Cancer, Taurus, Pisces, or Virgo? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Aquarius (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra, Uranus rules Aquarius).
Tuesday late evening, at 10:42pm EDT, the Moon aligns with the Sun at 26.5 degrees of Leo — in other words, the New Moon will be exact. To watch my New Moon video click here.
The New Moon in fun-loving, extroverted, expressive Leo has us looking for heartfelt experiences. It’s important for us to express ourselves, to learn about love — and in particular, to learn about how those things work together to help us create from the heart and from a place of joy.
Think about the keywords for this self-expressed fire sign: “proud, generous, hospitable, caring, warm, authoritative, active, open, fun-loving”… How could you live into those words?
Leo is ruled by the Sun, symbol of consciousness and the unique light we came to shine in this lifetime — this is what we were born to explore and express — so ask yourself: Where could I shine my unique light more brightly? What brings me joy? Not just in general… but in this very moment?
Leo also represents our creativity: there are as many ways to be creative and self-expressed as there are “selves” — indeed, we are all creators — we create with every thought, word, and action.
Creativity requires innocence, curiosity, courage, and play. To live it out, we must tap into the unique spark inside of us in a joyful way — and allow ourselves the freedom to make mistakes — creativity thrives on love and permission and is stifled by judgment and fear.
Take a moment to contact your “free inner child” — that place inside that is ready to play and create. What might encourage that inner child to come out and play? If you aren’t sure, there’s no need to guess: Try asking it gently and directly…
Mercury is currently also moving through Leo, adding more weight to the Leo-energies; as Mercury closely aligns with the New Moon in Leo, it encourages us to… to read the whole New Moon article and get access to all the Coaching questions, click here.
Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in one of the following placements: 24-29 degrees of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus or Scorpio? Or your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer? This New Moon may feel stronger to you…
The New Moon is also the best time to set some powerful intentions for this month’s Moon cycle. Intentions are best done soon after the New Moon becomes exact — and definitely not during a Moon void of course phase. This month, you have two slots:
The first slot is between 10:42pm EDT Tuesday late evening and late night Tuesday (1:38am EDT, Wednesday to be exact). If that doesn’t work for you, wait three hours until 4:20am EDT on Wednesday — you then have until 10:42pm EDT on Thursday late evening (Aug. 20th) to write your intentions down.
For more info on setting New Moon Intentions click here
If you live in a timezone other than EDT (US East Coast-time), I recommend you join my Facebook Fan-page or follow me on twitter, as I post reminders on Aug. 18th, 19th and 20th to let you know when it is time to set your intentions 😉
Tuesday late evening, a somewhat challenging Sun/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 11:48pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Monday late evening on, it will remain strong until Wednesday late evening. This aspect operates more on an internal level. We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward — and we need to make a choice. An inner awareness needs to be developed in order to see what needs adjusting.
Our focus is drawn to the truth of the matter, but we could be pulled away by doubts and impatience, or by “accepting” responsibilities that aren’t ours (while ignoring the ones that are). We work hard but aren’t always recognized or compensated as we’d like and therefore sometimes run out of steam before our work is complete. Our life works best when we learn to take care of our most important responsibilities first.
As best you can, slow down, but don’t come to a halt: Just because you’re not sure about something, doesn’t mean it’s not worth taking a longer look — in other words, don’t impatiently discard things when you’re unsure what to do about them. Ask yourself: How might I express my heart’s desire in a self-responsible way? What might I see if I slowed down? What might I notice if I took a longer-term view? How might joy and an open heart support my long-term goals?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 25-28 degrees of Leo or Capricorn? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Capricorn (the Sun rules Leo; Saturn rules Capricorn).
Wednesday, Aug. 19th:
Wednesday, the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo until 4:20am EDT (see Monday very early morning for details).
Wednesday at 1:38am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 3 hours until 4:20am EDT. If you are awake during this intuitive time, use it to connect with others (and with yourself) on an authentic, playful level. Could you permit yourself to get in touch with your inner child — and communicate your joy in a creative way?
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Tuesday night/Wednesday very early morning until the early morning on Wednesday ahead of time.
Wednesday at 4:20am EDT, the Moon moves into detail-oriented, practical Virgo, where it will journey until Friday early morning. We are generous with our time/services and we love to help others. We also have a fondness for science and anything that makes sense in our world — things and knowledge we can apply and use.
Health might come also into focus at this time. We notice the parts that make up the whole; this is a great time to see if our daily routines (eating, work, self-care, etc.) align with our long-term goals.
Wednesday late evening, at 9:30pm EDT, Mercury changes signs from prideful, fun-loving Leo to detail-oriented, practical Virgo. Mercury will travel through the sign of Virgo until Sept. 5th.
Mercury in Virgo sharpens our thinking: We see clearly and are more inclined to direct our energy towards day-to-day, practical matters.
Creating order in our daily lives, knowing what’s coming next, organizing, planning on a short-term scale, doing errands: All this will come easier. This stands in contrast to our ability to go with the flow, be present, have faith that things will turn out well, no matter what: not so easy 🙂
We may feel that we do things better than others right now and thereby deny them a chance to improve their skills or show us a different method. As best as you can, be of service to others — and remember that perfection is lovely when we treat it as a journey and a tyrant when we set it as a goal. What if you aimed at continuous, never-ending improvement, rather than at a frozen “perfect”?
Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo? If so, you will feel the need for organization and improvements more strongly.
Thursday, Aug. 20th:
Thursday, the Moon remains in detail-oriented, practical Virgo all day (see Wednesday early morning for details).
Thursday at 11:37pm EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for a little over 5.5 hours until 5:16am EDT (Friday early morning). If you are awake during this intuitive time, use it to look at the details, and focus on what’s sitting right in front of you that demands to be taken care of, so you can get to the next phase of accomplishment.
As best as you can, look at all the practical implications; slow down and take your time if you want to manifest something that can stand the test of time — rushing things will most likely backfire right now.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Thursday late evening until Friday early morning ahead of time.
Thursday, Mars starts to slow down (station) in 28 degrees of Aries, in preparation for the Retrograde phase that begins on Sept. 9th. This station will last until Sept. 27th. Mars represents our assertiveness, independence and “male” energy Also: new initiatives, going after one’s goals, physical actions.
During the station, these energies will be “in our face” — we become more aware of them, but we’re not necessarily able to do anything about them yet. This may bring up frustration or even outright anger. Given that Mars is in Aries right now, we may feel impulsive, impatient or overly enthusiastic.
We may also experience unexpected outbursts of anger, or a tremendous desire to “move faster”, neither of which will get us anywhere…
Instead, do your best to slow down, get present, and allow for it all to unfold — because one thing is for sure: you will make progress eventually — it’s just a matter of time, and timing is everything. Ask yourself: If I were really honest with myself, is the timing “right”, right now? What needs to happen first, before I can move forward with my personal goals or desires?

Is your Sun sign or Ascendant in Aries? Or do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 25-28 degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer, or Capricorn? If so, you will feel a stronger connection to this Mars Station.
Friday, Aug. 21st:
Friday, the Moon remains in detail-oriented, practical Virgo and VoC until 5:16am EDT; at that time, the Moon moves into harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra, where it will journey until Sunday morning. The energy of the Libra Moon wants to maintain equal relationships: we thus tend to spend more time on diplomacy — making compromises, negotiating, practicing graciousness, balancing, etc.
We can better set aside our emotions, to achieve the peace we desire; the shadow side of this is a tendency to avoid direct confrontations. We see both sides — and may also fear loss of approval — so we can’t decide. As best as you can, find your inner balance with this… and communicate what needs to be said with grace and charm.
Friday evening, we become more aware that we need to find a balance between two very different energies — on the one hand, taking a compassionate approach towards our personal goals, while being assertive in the world — and on the other hand, our need to connect and collaborate with others. Ask yourself: what if taking a compassionate approach towards myself actually made for more fulfilling connections with others?
Friday late evening, calls for some inner adjustments, as we feel uneasy or awkward, and need to make a choice. Making this choice demands we develop inner awareness around two very different urges: on the one hand, we want to innovate in the area of our values (and maybe also have some financial breakthroughs); on the other hand, we feel the need to attend to our one-on-one relationships, supporting them (and perhaps collaborating).
Saturday, Aug. 22nd:
Saturday, the Moon remains in harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra all day (see Friday early morning for details).
Saturday early morning: we feel a need to stay within our safety zone while also connecting and collaborating — stretch a little, and see if you can find creative ways to connect whilst honoring your need for safety and familiarity. As best as you can, listen to your feeling-body and be kind with yourself and others, if your needs do not align perfectly with others.
Saturday late morning, we are invited to make some adjustments in our lives and find creative solutions to seemingly unsolvable situations. As best as you can, look to expand your perspectives around any long-term goals you are currently pursuing, and find ways to create win-win outcomes for your various one-on-one relationships.
Saturday at 11:25am EDT, the Sun changes signs from playful, vital Leo into practical, detail-oriented Virgo. It will journey through Virgo until Sept. 22nd. This time is best used for getting our lives in order and expressing ourselves in realistic, practical terms.
Addressing your health (e.g., starting a new exercise or eating routine) might be just the thing within the next four weeks. Being of service and moving towards improving our living conditions are essential Virgo qualities. How might you be of service to others? What needs a little practical improvement?
All this is especially true if you are a Leo or Virgo Sun-sign or Rising-sign. Virgo folks will feel extra confident and playful; Leo people are more aware of the details and more grounded in reality.
Saturday early afternoon, we are invited to make some internal adjustments. We may want to connect with others, but may also need to tune in to our intuitive inner voice. What do you hear when you get really quiet?
Saturday evening, we may need to make some adjustments and find creative ways to work with the energies at play: On the one hand we need to collaborate with others and play nice, on the other hand, we feel a deep desire to be authentic and truthful about what we want to build long-term.
Sunday, Aug. 23rd:
Sunday, the Moon remains in harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra until 6:16am EDT (see Friday early morning for details).
Saturday night/Sunday very early morning at 12:20am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 6 hours until 6:16am EDT. Do your best to use this intuitive time to make some adjustments in your life and find creative solutions to seemingly unsolvable situations.
Make space both for looking for solid foundations under any long-term goals currently underway, and for ways to create win-win outcomes for one-on-one relationships.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Saturday night until Sunday morning ahead of time.
Sunday at 6:16am EDT, the Moon moves into passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio, where it will journey until next week, Tuesday morning (Aug. 25th). We feel things deeply and have “X-Ray Vision” and “Bullshit-Smelling Abilities” 😉
Emotional authenticity is extremely important to us at this time; anything less than 100% emotional honesty could be perceived as flat-out dishonest. Once we feel safe trusting someone, we want to merge with them, preferably forever… as long as our trust is never betrayed.
The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power. This occurs by a process of subtraction — it urges us to let go of whatever disempowers us. It’s therefore an excellent time to look at “old” fears, limiting habits or emotional attachments, especially those stemming from past traumas.
Moon in Scorpio tends to run right over ambiguity — it’s “in or out”, “with us or against us”, “love me or leave me”. It can therefore be stormy — a cold winter storm, or a torrid tropical storm of passion, depending on how we “work” the energies 🙂
Manipulation and paranoia are the lower vibrations of this aspect, so as best you can, be straightforward — act in good faith and assume it in others. Best of all, be truly present to the fluctuations of your feelings — no matter if they’re “polite” or “timely”.
Feelings aren’t facts, but they are information — and heeding them will help you embrace all of who you are.
Know thyself — and love thyself — you shall be set free. Remember: Love connects us to the Power within; Fear causes “Force” to show up — and that’s ultimately what disempowers us and others.
Sunday all day (and especially after 7:35am EDT ): if you set Intentions early this week Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday after the New Moon became exact, today will be the best time to start taking relevant actions. If you wrote your intentions down, go back and take another look at what came through intuitively.
If you didn’t write anything down, get quiet for a moment and check in with yourself: What actions are calling to me?
And…
A heads up for next Monday (Aug. 24th): the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio all day (see Sunday Aug. 23rd for details). In the late morning, a somewhat challenging Mercury/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 9:35am EDT; we started to feel this aspect from Sunday late morning (Aug. 23rd) on; it will remain strong until Tuesday late morning (Aug. 25th) . In the afternoon, a challenging Mars/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 2:19pm EDT, we started to feel this aspect from Aug. 15th on; it will remain strong until Oct. 9th. More about all the details in next week’s forecast 🙂
One More Announcement:
