The Balance between “Doing” & “Being”
This week’s headline items: very early on Monday morning, Mercury changes signs from Virgo to Libra and the last Quarter Moon in Gemini becomes exact; the Uranus station ends (in Taurus) on Thursday; and the Balsamic Moon phase begins early Friday.
There will be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday late afternoon (for almost 9 hours); Friday very early morning (for almost 10.5 hours); and Sunday late morning (for almost 9 hours).
Before we get to this week’s forecast, I’d like to mention:

Now, this week’s Forecast…
Monday, August 30th:
Monday, the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day. It will journey there until Tuesday night/Wednesday very early morning.
Until then, we like to learn, connect and interact as much as possible. “Busy” feels good: connecting online, on the phone, or sharing face-to-face, preferably multi-tasking all the way…
The one thing we can do without is boredom: If our mind is not engaged in some way, we might as well curl up and play dead 🙂
Monday very early morning, at 1:10am EDT, Mercury changes signs from practical Virgo to harmony-seeking Libra, where it will journey until Nov. 5th (much longer due to the Mercury Retrograde phase in late Sept). Mercury in Libra changes the way we communicate and think. We are more likely now to see things from multiple points of view and to think in abstractions, this helps us be objective.
We have a strong sense of justice and look for ways to make compromises. We speak and act diplomatically; this comes from our desire for harmony, peace, diplomacy, win/win outcomes. We feel better when we are not pressured into making quick decisions. Very probably, the two things we will most avoid at this time are confrontations and emotional intensity.
Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo? If so, you will feel a greater need for justice and fairness. Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Libra? If so, you will most likely feel more chatty for the next 9.5 weeks.
Monday early morning, at 3:13am EDT, the last Quarter Moon in 7 degrees Gemini becomes exact. We started to feel this aspect build from the moment the Moon entered Gemini, on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 29th). The Moon in curious, chatty Gemini makes a challenging aspect to the Sun in practical, detail- and service-oriented Virgo.
This may bring challenges; however, it also energizes us to face what demands completion or change. During the last Quarter Moon, we are better served by reviewing any projects begun around the last New Moon — in this case, that would be Aug. 8th — rather than launching new ones.
As best as you can, find kind and creative solutions for whatever comes up, whether internally or with others.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 5-9 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces? Do you have an Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer? If so, you will….

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 5-9 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces? If so, you will feel this month’s last Quarter Moon quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer, since the Sun rules Leo and the Moon rules Cancer.
Tuesday, Aug. 31st:
Tuesday, the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Monday for details).
Tuesday early morning, a somewhat challenging Sun/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 4:46am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Monday early morning on; and it will remain strong until Wednesday early morning on. This aspect operates more on an internal level. We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward — and we need to make a choice. An inner awareness needs to be developed in order to see what needs adjusting.
Our focus is drawn to the truth of the matter, but we could be pulled away by doubts and impatience, or by “accepting” responsibilities that aren’t ours (while ignoring the ones that are). We work hard but aren’t always recognized or compensated as we’d like and therefore sometimes run out of steam before our work is complete. Our life works best when we learn to take care of our most important responsibilities first.
Practical improvement and details are important to Virgo, but Saturn in Aquarius reminds us that neither getting caught in too much detail, nor wanting to improve our daily routines excessively, will lead to new creations or bring forth new visions for the future.
Ask yourself: What future visions do I have for my various communities – locally or online?
Could I stay open to new structures that will help me fulfil on my vision and create something sustainable? What is the worst that could happen if I chose “perfect” over “better”? What role does self-responsibility or discernment play in all of this? What if I simply decided to stay adaptable?
As best you can, slow down, but don’t come to a halt — just because you’re not sure about something, doesn’t mean it’s not worth taking a longer look — in other words, don’t discard things because they are different or new, when you’re unsure what to do about them.
Ask yourself: What does taking care of my daily routines in a self-responsible way look like? What future might I see if I slowed down? What might I notice if I took a longer-term view? How might proper discernment support the long-term goals of my communities?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 7-9 degrees of Virgo or Aquarius? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Capricorn (the Sun rules Leo; Saturn rules Capricorn).
Tuesday at 4:48pm EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 9 hours, until 1:26am EDT (Wednesday very early morning). Use this intuitive time to take a chance to connect with like-minded people, expand each other’s minds, and share information that allows you to see the bigger picture.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Tuesday late afternoon until Wednesday very early morning ahead of time.
Wednesday, Sept. 1st:
Wednesday, the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini & VoC until 1:26am EDT (see Monday morning & Tuesday late afternoon for details).
Wednesday at 1:26am EDT, the Moon moves into protective, nurturing Cancer, where it will journey until Friday late morning. With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say and therefore our feelings are more easily hurt — so be kind to yourself and others. Self-Care is key for the next two days 😉
Emotional safety is important to us as well; we like connecting to the familiar and we enjoy nurturing ourselves and others — home and family call to us, for instance. Make sure though, that your glass is filled before letting others drink from it, otherwise you might start to feel drained and resentful.
Wednesday morning, we are invited to make adjustments and (as best as we can) find creative solutions to seemingly insoluble situations. On the one hand, we want to collaborate and share ourselves with others in a fair and just way; on the other hand, we might need to address emotional- or family issues. (Moon in Cancer squares Mercury in Libra, exact at 7:46am EDT)
Wednesday late afternoon/evening, we are asked to make some inner adjustments, as we may experience some internal discomfort. Personal comfort and safety is important for the Moon in Cancer, yet Saturn in Aquarius reminds us that staying attached to the past is not going to lead to new creations, or bring forth new visions for the future. (Moon in Cancer quincunxes Saturn in Aquarius, exact at 5:30pm EDT)
Wednesday evening, is an opportunity to look into the details of our lives that make up your daily routines, and see if they are in alignment with us… Ask: are my needs being met? Do my daily routines leave me feeling nurtured?
It is also an opportunity to connect to family (or friends that feel like family) and be aware of things that could improve everyone’s well-being — this could include health issues or concerns, or simply looking at our nutrition and what feeds us… (Moon in Cancer sextiles the Sun in Virgo, exact at 8:52pm EDT)
Thursday, Sept. 2nd:
Thursday, the Moon remains in protective, nurturing Cancer all day (see Wednesday very early morning for details).
Thursday early afternoon, a Mars/Neptune opposition becomes exact at 1:43pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from last week Saturday evening (Aug 28th) on; and it will remain strong until next week, Monday evening (Sept 6th). This aspect asks us to find a balance between “doing” and “being”. It could be a confusing time if we don’t allow intuition to guide us. We may also feel de-energized at times, if we are trying to do too much.
We may not feel as organized as we think we should be; we may miss things that normally would be pretty obvious to us. We also might have a hard time expressing our anger or asserting ourselves, therefore passive-aggressive behaviors are likely to occur.
We can lose our bearings during this opposition, so as best as you can, go with the flow, have faith and let your heart guide you — and have compassion for yourself and others. Selfless service and quiet time will both likely work out well.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 19-25 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, or Sagittarius? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries or Pisces (Mars is the ruler of Aries; Neptune rules Pisces)
Also, on Thursday, although it’s still retrograde in Taurus, Uranus resumes its normal pace through the sky, ending its station. What has come up in the last 4.5 weeks around radical change (financial or in regards to what you value) and freedom around self-worth issues? How are you doing with honoring your own individuality or idiosyncrasies? The Retrograde phase is a good time to do some internal work in this area (retrograde ends Jan. 18th, 2022).
Friday, Sept. 3rd:
Friday, the Moon remains in protective, nurturing Cancer until 11:58am EDT (see Wednesday very early morning for details).
Friday at 1:37am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 10.5 hours, until 11:58am EDT. Use this intuitive time to remain flexible and practice self-care — take good care of your emotional and physical body — that way, you’ll remain able to empower yourself and others.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Friday very early morning until noon ahead of time.
Friday early morning, around 3:30am EDT, the Balsamic Moon phase begins when the Moon reaches 26 degrees of Cancer. This phase lasts until next week, Monday evening when the New Moon in Virgo becomes exact (more on that next week… however, feel free to watch my New Moon video now — click here. (available to watch by Sept. 1st)
We are being asked to slow down and get quiet, so we can listen to our intuition. For some of us, this might be a stretch. As best as you can: stay grounded, take a deep breath and exhale any tensions.
Rather than starting something brand-new, put all that energy into completing existing projects. This is also a great time for letting go of whatever no longer serves us. What if you could hear the voice of your inner wisdom? What might it be saying?
Friday at 11:58am EDT, the Moon moves into fun and attention-loving Leo, where it will journey until Sunday evening. We have a chance to appreciate ourselves and our lives — and to connect to the heart.
Hand out as many compliments as possible, they will be deeply appreciated 🙂 Fun, games and romance are a big part of this energy. You might also enjoy spending time with little ones. What are you most grateful for today? What would be heaps of fun? What would be so much fun, you squeak just thinking about it?
Friday evening, a somewhat challenging Venus/Neptune aspect becomes exact at 8:13pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Thursday evening on; and it will remain strong until this Saturday evening. This aspect operates more on an internal level. We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward — and we need to make a choice. An inner awareness needs to be developed in order to see what needs adjusting.
A lot of this discomfort centers around “unrealism” — we tend to idealize romantic and financial interactions, but at the same time, our sense that we’re doing exactly that leaves us uncomfortable. This applies to ourselves too; it’s easy for us to incorrectly appraise who we are, and where we’re going.
We might also get confused when we aren’t able to connect harmoniously with others or experience peace and collaboration. The key is genuine self-acceptance; if we allow that, our receptivity to harmonious interactions increases.
It’s also worthwhile to look at how our ideas are received by others: Can we involve them in our dreams? As best as you can, slow down and trust the process: “If a thing is worth having, it’s worth waiting for.” Just for right now, could you simply have faith that everything will align eventually?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 21-23 degrees of Libra or Pisces? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Pisces (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Neptune is the ruler of Pisces).
Saturday, Sept. 4th:
Saturday, the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo all day (see Friday late morning for details).
Saturday very early morning, a somewhat challenging Sun/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 1:20am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Friday very early morning on; and it will remain strong until this Sunday very early morning. This aspect operates more on an internal level. We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward — and we need to make a choice. An inner awareness needs to be developed if we’re to see what needs adjusting.
We may feel an internal dilemma around our ability to get things done — a drop in our self-confidence and self-esteem. This could lead to us “hiding out”… which leaves us feeling strangely guilty… which leads to us saying weird things… and we end up thinking “did I really just do that?”
As best as you can, be kind and compassionate with yourself — forgive yourself for having a human moment — this will support your healing process.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 11-13 degrees of Virgo or Aries? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo (the Sun rules of Leo).
Saturday late evening, a harmonious Mercury/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 9:30pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Thursday evening on; and it will remain strong until next week, Tuesday evening (Sept 7th). It will help to interact with integrity and commitment. We can set aside unrealistic views and make concrete, practical plans that help us explore our long-term goals.
We “get to the point”, with no wasted time or words. Looking to build solid, truthful foundations for our society’s future, we speak our truth but temper it with adult caution and moderation.
The reality of our social connections gets clearer and our thought processes are more realistic. It is important for us to think about what works (and what doesn’t) in our one-on-one relationships — and to remain aligned with the goal of a better future for humanity.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 5-11 degree of Libra, Aquarius, or Gemini? Or perhaps you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Capricorn? If so, you will likely be more blessed by this aspect.
Sunday, Sept. 5th:
Sunday, the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo until 7:06pm EDT (see Friday late morning for details).
Sunday at 10:22am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 9 hours, until 7:06pm EDT. Use this intuitive time to choose clearly when it comes to expanding your perspective around a cause or like-minded people. Do your best to find a balance between your need for heartfelt, joyful self-expression in the here and now, and for moving into an intellectually stimulating and inspirational future.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Sunday late morning until evening ahead of time.
Sunday at 7:06pm EDT, the Moon moves into detail-oriented, practical Virgo, where it will journey until next week, Tuesday late evening (Sept 7th); turning our focus toward the practical and wholesome. We are generous with our time/services and we love to help others. We also have a fondness for science and anything that makes sense in our world — things and knowledge we can apply and use.
Health might also come into focus at this time. We notice the parts that make up the whole; this is a great time to see if our daily routines (eating, work, self-care, etc.) align with our long-term goals.
Sunday late evening, a challenging Venus/Pluto aspect becomes exact at 11:07pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Friday morning on; and it will remain strong until next week, Wednesday (Sept 8th). The Universe is asking us to stretch and grow.
Venus represents our relationships and that which we most value; these areas may undergo major transformations. This aspect challenges us to find meaning in our life through partnerships. We must now uncover the deeper layer of our life. With Pluto in the mix, social interactions could be intense.
You may see changes in financial status or relationships. In the latter, things erupt that have been brewing beneath the surface for some time; this may prove disruptive: As best you can, empower rather than disempower. We may become obsessed with our commitments and our partner during this time.
We may also experience Pluto through our partner, experiencing manipulation and controlling behaviors; we must be especially wary of resisting change and holding onto negative attachments. It’s time to let go of destructive attachments and connections. How can we grow and evolve in our relationships? Is there a relationship that we need to grow and evolve out of?
This aspect could also express itself through sexual tension; there is a strong desire for love in its physical expression. However, keep your standards high, so you can come upon a love that fulfills all your needs — definitely don’t start a relationship with “just anyone”, in order to avoid being alone.
Remember to be true to your own values; wait for someone with whom you can have a relationship based on trust, love and a genuine desire for intimacy — and work on being worth finding, in the meantime 🙂 As best as you can, stay grounded in love, not fear. Stay flexible and open-minded. As best as you can, nurture yourself; make sure you have everything you need to be able to come from a place of inner strength & empowerment.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 21-28 degrees of Libra, Capricorn, Aries or Cancer? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Scorpio (Venus being the ruler of Taurus and Libra, while Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio).
Also, Mercury enters its pre-Shadow phase when it reaches 10º 08’ of Libra, tomorrow, Monday around 4pm EDT. This is 3 weeks prior to its Retrograde phase (which starts on Sept 27th.).
What is the Shadow phase? The period immediately before and after a planet’s retrograde phase is referred to as the “shadow phase”; at these times, the planet travels once more through the degrees of a sign that it had already passed through before and during its Retrograde phase. Mercury is usually in its shadow for about two to three weeks prior and after a retrograde.
Use these three weeks wisely! Prepare for Mercury’s pre-Shadow phase in Libra… feel free to watch: “Mercury’s pre-Shadow phase Sept. 2021” — to see how this relates to your own Birth Chart…
