Forecast for Mon., Jan. 8th  – Sun., Jan. 14th, 2018

The theme of last week for me was “stay present in the here and now, do what you can, and breathe through the rest” 🙂

Before we get to this week’s forecast, I have one quick announcement:

Feel free to check out my 20-minute excerpt from my latest webinar about the year ahead, a look at all of 2018!

And if you want to know how align yourself with the energies this year, feel free to buy the whole 90+ min. webinar on the subject —  click here  — we talked about what to expect for the next 12 months, and how it all applies to our own birth charts 😉

This week’s headline items: the last Quarter Moon in Libra becomes exact on Monday; the Mercury shadow phase ends Wednesday, Mercury changes signs from Sagittarius to Capricorn on Wednesday night/Thursday very early morning; the Balsamic Moon phase begins on Saturday (very early in the morning); and Uranus ends its station phase on Sunday.

There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday late morning (for almost 4 hours), Thursday late morning (for a little over 16 hours), and Sunday very early morning (for almost 11 hours).

Monday (January 8th) is quite a day, astrologically speaking! So much going on…

Firstly, the Moon remains in relationship-oriented, harmony-seeking Libra all day. It will journey there until Tuesday afternoon, where it will help us be naturally courteous and diplomatic — we are more polite at this time, as we seek the approval of others.

We very much want to maintain equal, fair relationships at this time, and are therefore open to making compromises and negotiating. These next two days are a great time for mediation — but our need for peace and accompanying aversion to direct conflict could pull us to “yes” more easily than we might like.

We may also be able see both sides of the equation so well that we can’t make decisions. As best as you can, find an inner balance with this and communicate what needs to be said with grace and charm — even if it’s “No” 😉 One last quick note: this is also a great time for anything to do with visual arts. This Moon placement also starts the build-up towards the last Quarter Moon (which, will be exact Monday early evening…)

Monday morning, an opportune Sun/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 7:07am EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Saturday on; it will remain strong until this Wednesday. We might want to take advantage of the opportunities this aspect provides — it’s an excellent time for creating deeper intimate connections, resolving conflicts with others, having fun and boosting our self-confidence. In fact, we may well feel particularly vital and confident — and inner optimism can bring rewards.

Humor can be a big part of this aspect too: We are able to laugh whole-heartedly, and see nothing but possibility in our lives, especially in our intimate relationships and our shared resources with others. This could bring a healthy shift of attitude toward our relationships — whether personal or business.

Imagine you have a special lens which showed you the “bigger picture”… What would your relationships look like when you gazed through it?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (MC) or any personal planets in 16-20 degrees of Capricorn, Scorpio, Virgo or Pisces? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Sagittarius (the Sun rules Leo; Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius).

Monday late morning, an opportune Venus/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 11:13am EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Saturday evening on; it will remain strong until this Tuesday night. We have an opportunity to grow in our social and personal relationships at this time. Humor and caring play a big role in our interactions with others.

We can call upon tolerance, optimism and co-operation when dealing with loved ones or business relationships now. Financially speaking, things are “on the up”; we may have opportunities now to expand our pocketbooks — if we make sound decisions that are in the interest of everyone involved.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 16-20 degrees of Capricorn, Scorpio, Virgo or Pisces? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Sagittarius (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius).

Monday afternoon, an opportune Mars/Pluto aspect becomes exact at 2:59pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Friday evening on; it will remain strong until this Thursday evening. This brings an opportunity to connect our personal passions to our Soul’s passions. We are resourceful and persistent when pursuing a goal, bringing tremendous effort and focus to bear.

This is an opportunity to be committed, determined and passionate, with no half-measures; it’s also an opportunity to feel more confident about our own talents. Strategic thinking and execution is favored right now, as is eliminating waste around time and energy. Remember though: An “opportunity” is just an opening, it’s not automatically granted — we have to “step up” to the opening, then through it…

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 17-21 degrees of Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces  or Virgo? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries or Scorpio (Mars is the ruler of Aries, so those folks will always be affected more strongly by Mars’s movements and aspects; Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio)

Monday early evening, at 5:25pm EST, the last Quarter Moon in 18.5 degrees of Libra becomes exact. We started to feel this aspect build from the moment the Moon entered Libra Sunday morning. The Moon in relationship-oriented, harmony-loving Libra makes a challenging aspect to the Sun in ambitious, goal-oriented Capricorn.

This may bring up some challenges. However, it also energizes us to look at what needs to be completed — and what needs to be changed. This Moon phase brings us closer to Jan 16th, which will bring the New Moon in Capricorn.

With the last Quarter Moon, rather than starting major new projects, it serves us take a look at what was started around the time of the last New Moon — in this case, around Dec. 18th. We now have about a week to wrap those projects up. What — if anything — needs last-minute adjustments? What did you discover since Dec. 18th? What did it mean for you?

As best as you can, find creative solutions for anything that comes up (whether internally or with others).

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 16-21 degrees of Libra, Capricorn, Aries or Cancer? If so, you are more affected by this month’s last Quarter Moon. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer, since the Sun rules Leo and the Moon rules Cancer.

Tuesday (Jan. 9th) is just as busy as Monday — astrologically speaking: the Moon remains in relationship-oriented, harmony-seeking Libra until 3:05pm EST (see Monday for details).

Tuesday very early morning, a Sun/Venus alignment in almost 20 degrees of Capricorn becomes exact at 2:02am EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Saturday (Jan. 6th) night on; it will remain strong until this Friday night.  We are motivated to strike a balance in our relationships and our career environment. If you have negotiations going on at this time, it’s very likely they will go smoothly.

Graciousness, diplomacy, charm, and a healthy dose of realism: This is a good period for social affairs, pleasure, amusement, and romance, especially if it’s about building something concrete and long-term, something traditional or something connected to status and expertise.

Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 17-23 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Libra or Cancer? If so, you may be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Leo (the Sun rules Leo; Venus rules Taurus and Libra)

Tuesday early morning, a Venus/Pluto alignment in 19 degrees of Capricorn becomes exact at 4:03am EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Saturday (Jan. 6th) evening on; it will remain strong until this Thursday. This alignment brings out our passionate side. We uncompromisingly seek deep, totally authentic connections with others.

Our instincts are very strong right now, our inner wolf is wide-awake, and we can sniff out any unclean intentions right away. As best as you can, be completely truthful about your motivations and needs – if you try to duck this, it could get ugly, since everyone knows what everyone else is up to anyway.

What if you took 100% responsibility for getting what you want and need? What is the highest path to achieve that? As best as you can, find creative solutions and remain flexible. And as always when Pluto is involved, choose the power of love over the power of fear — whenever possible.

Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 16-22 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Cancer or Libra? If so, you will feel this alignment quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Scorpio (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Pluto rules Scorpio)

Tuesday early morning, a Sun/Pluto alignment in 19 degrees of Capricorn becomes exact at 4:33am EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Saturday (Jan. 6th) morning on; it will remain strong until this Thursday night. This alignment asks of us that we reclaim our authority and make some fundamental changes in our world.

Some of the structures that we built in the past may no longer be solid; they must fall now, to be replaced with something that empowers us. It is necessary to redefine feminine and masculine “powers”. What do you need to acknowledge or embrace? What is rejected or ignored? If you truly had choice in the matter, what kind of future would you want to step into?

Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 16-22 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra? If so, you may be more affected by this alignment. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Scorpio (the Sun is the ruler of Leo; Pluto rules Scorpio)

Tuesday at 11:13am EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for almost 4 hours, until 3:05pm EST. Use this intuitive time to collaborate with others and share your life philosophy. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Tuesday (late morning until the mid-afternoon) ahead of time 😉 (Moon sextiles Mercury in Sagittarius)

Tuesday at 3:05pm EST, the Moon moves into passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio, where it will journey until Thursday late morning. We feel things deeply and have “X-Ray Vision” and “Bullshit-Smelling Abilities” 😉

Emotional authenticity is extremely important to us at this time; anything less than 100% emotional honesty could be perceived as flat-out dishonest. Once we feel safe trusting someone, we want to merge with them, preferably forever… as long as our trust is never betrayed.

The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power. This occurs by a process of subtraction — it urges us to let go of whatever disempowers us. It’s therefore an excellent time to look at “old” fears, limiting habits or emotional attachments, especially those stemming from past traumas.

Moon in Scorpio tends to run right over ambiguity — it’s “in or out”, “with us or against us”, “love me or leave me”. It can therefore be stormy — a cold winter storm, or a torrid tropical storm of passion, depending on how we “work” the energies 🙂

Manipulation and paranoia are the lower vibrations of this aspect, so as best you can, be straightforward — act in good faith and assume it in others. Best of all, be truly present to the fluctuations of your feelings — no matter if they’re “polite” or “timely”. Feelings aren’t facts, but they are information — and heeding them will help you embrace all of who you are.

Know thyself — and love thyself — you shall be set free. Remember: Love connects us to the Power within; Fear causes “Force” to show up — and that’s ultimately what disempowers us and others.

Tuesday late afternoon, an opportune Venus/Mars aspect becomes exact at 4:08pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Saturday (Jan. 6th) night on; it will remain strong until this Friday evening.  This aspect helps intimate or business relationships along, bringing passion and/or sexiness to them — and if we’re not in a long-term committed relationship, we’ll get some help in forming one.

This could also be a good time for financial ventures, social life, artistic pursuits, and pleasure in general. Remember: this is an “opportunity” — those aren’t necessarily handed to us, we have to make them happen.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (MC) or any personal planets in 18-22 degrees of Capricorn, Scorpio, Pisces or Virgo? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Aries (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Mars is the ruler of Aries)

Wednesday (Jan. 10th): the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio all day (see Tuesday afternoon for details).

Wednesday very early morning, an opportune Sun/Mars aspect becomes exact at 12:36am EST. We started to feel this aspect from Monday on; it will remain strong until this Friday. Many of us feel an inner joy now — when planning and achieving; now is a good time to link this to our intuition and instincts.

Our self-confidence and self-esteem can get a boost: we feel we can meet life on life’s terms and stand up for ourselves (and our point of view) without becoming hostile or confrontational.

We have to “take” opportunities, and this one is no exception: It requires we take action. What if there was a single, really simple action step, that would feel almost effortless?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 18-24 degrees of Capricorn, Scorpio, Pisces or Virgo? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Aries (the Sun rules Leo; Mars is the ruler of Aries)

Wednesday at 11:40am EST, Mercury’s Shadow Phase ends. As you may recall, on Dec. 22nd, when Mercury stationed direct, I mentioned Mercury shadow phases as well: If you want to buy, sell or ship big-ticket items, it’s best to avoid the periods shortly before and after Mercury goes retrograde. This is especially true if the items are connected to transportation (cars, plane tickets, etc.) or communication (phone, computer, iPad, etc.)

The good news is, this shadow phase ends today, when Mercury reaches 29º18′ of Sagittarius. This means that we can finally go ahead and book those plane tickets — or buy that new car or iPhone (or anything else communication- or transportation-related). We can also more easily take in new information, so teaching, sharing and learning will be more effective. Click here to read my blog on the subject.

Thursday (Jan. 11th): the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio all day (see Tuesday afternoon for details).

Wednesday night/Thursday very early morning, at 12:09am EST, Mercury changes signs from optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius to practical, accomplishment-oriented, status-oriented Capricorn, where it will journey until Jan. 31st.

This is a time when our minds like to make concrete plans for the future. A systematic, practical approach to reaching our goals is now favored; we are good at focusing on practical matters and getting down to the essentials.

We do not waste any words at this time — what we say is truthful and to the point. We see reality very clearly now — and it might not look as rosy as we thought. As best as you can, use this time to get in touch with what’s real in your life — without going down the “rabbit hole” of pessimistic inadequacy 😉

Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo? If so, you will be more serious and possible more eager to accomplish concrete goals. Do you have your Ascendent or Sun-sign in Capricorn? If so, you will most likely feel more chatty for the next 3 weeks.

Thursday at 9:53am EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for a little over 16 hours, until Friday (Jan. 12th) at 2:04am EST. Use this intuitive time as an opportunity to connect with others on an authentic level. What if you let yourself trust others in the mutual pursuit of realistic, practical goals?

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Thursday (late morning, all the way through the night) ahead of time 😉 (Moon sextiles Venus in Capricorn)

Friday (Jan. 12th): the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio and VoC until 2:04am EST (see Tuesday afternoon for details).

Friday at 2:04am EST, the Moon moves into optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius, where it will journey until Sunday afternoon. We’re strongly motivated to explore and learn. We’re not likely to be big fans of routine — diversity and new adventures work best at this time — we’re also physically restless and need to burn that off with activity and physical exercise.

We tend to feel more open, optimistic and inspired — but we also have a high degree of independence, which means we’d rather inspire others to do things our way, than take orders. Inspiring others could come easier than normal, as we can see the bigger picture, leaving us confident that others will agree with us, once they see what we see.

As best as you can, speak your truth without assuming that everyone is on the same page as you. Improvisation works well for us at this time, as we are spontaneous and love living on the edge — just watch out you aren’t overdoing or overstating things.

Saturday (Jan. 13th): the Moon remains in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day (see Friday very early morning for details).

Saturday very early morning, a Mercury/Saturn alignment in almost 3 degrees of Capricorn becomes exact at 2:03am EST. We started to feel this aspect from Wednesday evening on; it will remain strong until Monday (Jan. 15th). This connection strengthens our ability to make realistic decisions connected to our need for achievement and mastery. We are more able to come from a place of integrity and maturity when planning anything long-term.

We prefer to have serious conversations with others that move us forward, closer to a common goal. It’s an excellent period for reviewing, reassessing, perfecting, and improving our thinking patterns, long-term goals, and path towards mastery. Even though we might have a more negative or critical outlook initially, this alignment serves the purpose of reaching a balanced, mature, and realistic state.

Due to Mercury’s retrograde phase, we have already experienced this aspect several times over the past 7 weeks — making this alignment more important this time around. Think back to Nov. 28th and Dec. 6th, 2017. In what ways did you need to slow down and take a more serious look at a situation in your life?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (MC) or personal planets in 0-6 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra? If so, you will feel this alignment quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Capricorn (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn).

Saturday very early morning, around 2am EST, the Balsamic Moon phase begins when the Moon reaches 12º of Sagittarius. This lasts until Tuesday evening, when the New Moon in Capricorn becomes exact (more on that next week…however, feel free to watch my video on the subject — will be posted by Friday, Jan. 12th).

We are being asked to slow down and get quiet, so we can listen to our inner sensing/intuition. For some of us, this might be a stretch. As best as you can: stay grounded, take a deep breath and exhale any tensions. Rather than starting something brand-new, put all that energy into completing existing projects or processes.

This is also a great time for letting go of whatever no longer serves us. What if you could hear the voice of your inner wisdom? What might it be saying?

Saturday early afternoon, a challenging Venus/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 2:09pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from Wednesday night on; it will remain strong until next week, Monday evening (Jan. 15th). This “stretch aspect” asks us to grow beyond what we know and have experienced in the past in regards to our relationships, especially business relations.

Priorities may shift. We may experience clashes of taste or values with business partners; as you can imagine, we may feel some instability or restlessness in connection to others. We may also struggle with freedom versus material safety — the latter manifesting as fears around financial goals.

As best as you can, take a deep breath and hold off on decision-making with regards to finances — in particular, it is best to avoid impulse buys at this time.

In general, expect the unexpected: Things may take a different turn when it comes to the truly important. Keep your mind and heart open: if something demands elimination or change, it was waiting for that shift to happen anyway. As best as you can, find creative solutions and stay flexible and adaptable. This is not the best time to take things too personally (but then again, is there ever a good time for that? 🙂

Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 21-28 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Libra, or Cancer? If so, you may be more affected by this aspect. The same is true for those with their Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Aquarius (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Uranus rules Aquarius)

Saturday late evening, an opportune Venus/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 9:52pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from this Friday on; it will remain strong until next week, Monday (Jan. 15th) . It’s an opportunity to bring healing to our wounds around relationships or our sense of self-worth.

We get a chance to love ourselves and heal deep fears of not being “good enough”. Healing happens much faster when we can open to forgiving ourselves and others. As best as you can, bring compassion and understanding to yourself, to others, and to those past experiences that wounded you.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 23-27 degrees of Capricorn, Pisces, Scorpio or Taurus? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus or Libra (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra)

Sunday (Jan. 14th): the Moon remains in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius until 2:42pm EST (see Friday very early morning for details).

Sunday at 3:48am EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for almost 11 hours, until 2:42pm EST. This intuitive time could serve as an opportunity to connect to like-minded people and learn something new about your unique self. How wide could your vision for humanity become?

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Sunday (until the mid-afternoon) ahead of time 😉 (Moon trines Uranus in Aries)

Sunday at 2:42pm EST, the Moon moves into practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn, where it will journey until Wednesday very early morning (Jan. 17th). We tend to be more realistic, serious, cautious; this can support practical endeavors and financial matters.

Our ambition surges and brings with it a need for structure and planning; when you add in the pragmatism this aspect supports, you can see how this could be a very productive time for business and long-term goals. Our reputation becomes very important to us.

As best as you can during this aspect, avoid “should-ing” on yourself. Take the pressure off, perhaps by saying “I am doing the best I can and that’s all I can ever do” 😉

Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn; it is currently transiting through its own sign, making this a great time to take look at your long-term aspirations and anything that you would like to master over the next three years. It’s also a great time to take a more serious look at our strategies for self-mastery.

As best as you can, be truthful with yourself about where you are at: Do you actually have a realistic view about what is so, right now, in your life? Not what you wish it to be or what you would like it to be or where you see yourself going…. What is so right now? Once you know where “A” is, it’s easier to “go from A to B”, whether “B” is self-mastery or standing on the mountaintop.

Sunday afternoon, a challenging Sun/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 3:45pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from Friday evening on; it will remain strong until next Wednesday (Jan. 17th).  Disrupted routines and plans, especially around career and business, are quite likely; this calls for flexibility and creative solutions.

During this transit, we feel a great need to make progress, as we feel quite restless — maybe even anxious — but if we’re unclear on what actions are in our best interest, we might act in ways that don’t serve us in the long run.

As best as you can, go with the flow and stay open to experiencing something new and wonderfully unexpected; if you can, put off making major decisions for the time being… “haste makes waste” during this aspect 😉

You can think of this as “reorganizing” time — like rearranging your furniture — try not to resist the reorganization. Enjoy the ride… and remember: it only feels uncomfortable because it’s new and different. Could you allow yourself to be comfortable with being uncomfortable?

Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 21-28 degrees of Cancer, Aries, Libra, Capricorn or 0-1 degrees Leo, Taurus, Aquarius or Scorpio? If so, you may be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aquarius or Leo (the Sun rules Leo; Uranus rules Aquarius)

Also on Sunday, Uranus resumes its normal pace through the sky, ending its station. What has come up in the last four weeks around radical change, personal freedom, and needing to individuate? How closely are you in touch with your personal vision for life?

A head’s up for next Monday (Jan. 15th): The Moon remains in Capricorn all day (see Sunday afternoon for details). In very early morning, an opportune Sun/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 1:59am EST. We started to feel this aspect from Friday night on; it will remain strong until this Tuesday morning. In late evening, a long-term, opportune Jupiter/Pluto aspect becomes exact at 11:13pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from Tuesday (Jan. 3rd) on; it will remain strong until Wednesday (Jan. 31st). More about all the details in next week’s forecast 😉
