Burning the Candle at Both Ends — Forecast for Sept. 2nd – 8th
This week’s headline items: Beginning Tuesday, it’s time to take actions on your New Moon Intentions, the first Quarter Moon in Sagittarius becomes exact late on Thursday evening, and there will be three Moon VoC phases this week: Monday early morning (for 15 hours), Wednesday morning (a little over 16 hours) and Friday early afternoon (just over 18.5 hours).
Monday, September 2nd:
Monday, the Moon remains in harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra until 7:35pm EDT. The energy of the Libra Moon helps us be naturally courteous and diplomatic; we are more polite at this time, as we seek the approval of others.
We very much want to maintain equal, fair relationships at this time, and are therefore open to making compromises and negotiating. Today is a great time for mediation — but our need for peace and accompanying aversion to direct conflict could pull us to “yes” more easily than we might like.
We may also be able see both sides of the equation so well that we can’t make decisions. As best as you can, find an inner balance with this and communicate what needs to be said with grace and charm — even if it’s “No” 😉 One last quick note: this is also a great time for anything to do with visual arts.
Monday at 4:34am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for 15 hours until 7:35pm EDT. Use this intuitive time to make some adjustments and find creative ways to work with the energies at play: On the one hand, as best as you can, collaborate with others and play nice, on the other hand, be authentic and truthful about what you want to build long-term.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Monday early morning until the evening ahead of time.
Monday morning, a Sun/Mars alignment in almost 9 degrees of Virgo becomes exact at 6:42am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from August 24th on (soon after the Sun entered Virgo), it will remain strong until September 10th – (due to the Sun and Mars staying within a 3 degree orb until then: 15-18º of Virgo).
This alignment brings a lot of energy to our personal projects/goals and our health and wellbeing. We feel more confident and capable to accomplish anything brand-new; we are also more excited to tackling something challenging.
Being active and taking action comes quite easily and naturally with this combo. One thing to watch out for: we have the tendency now to be burning the candle at both ends; this could lead to exhaustion and physical burn-out.
This is a great time to start new projects that are connected to our physical bodies, our health/wellbeing, our daily routines, or our passions; anything that requires inspirational leadership and taking precise actions is a perfect match for this alignment as well.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (MC) or personal planets in 0-18 degrees of Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces, or Gemini? If so, you will feel the effects of this alignment more strongly than otherwise. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Aries (the Sun rules Leo; Mars rules Aries).
Monday early afternoon, a challenging Venus/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 12:26pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Friday, August 30th on, it will remain strong until Wednesday, September 4th. This aspect asks that we question our most fundamental beliefs and conditioning around money and relationships.
We have the opportunity here to grow beyond our understanding of what our values get us. Issues connected to love, relationships, and whatever is most valuable to us, can seem overwhelming at this time. This is because we have a tendency to overindulge or over-promise.
We mean well, because we are feeling quite optimistic at this time — but we may underestimate how much time we actually have, or how good a fit something actually is. Overspending, overindulging and over-promising could be connected to this aspect as well (as could making assumptions in our relationships); as best as you can, bring a non-judgmental awareness to any such tendencies.
As best as you can, weigh the benefits and limitations of any given situation or relationship (including those that lie within yourself or the other people involved), then base your decisions on what works best in the moment. Ask yourself: If I were less concerned with morality and “rightness”, what might I perceive about this from a neutral rather than a personal perspective?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 12-18 degrees of Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces, or Gemini? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Sagittarius (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius).
Monday at 7:35pm EDT, the Moon moves into passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio, where it will journey until Wednesday late evening. We feel things deeply and have “X-Ray Vision” and “Bullshit-Smelling Abilities” 😉
Emotional authenticity is extremely important to us at this time; anything less than 100% emotional honesty could be perceived as flat-out dishonest. Once we feel safe trusting someone, we want to merge with them, preferably forever… as long as our trust is never betrayed.
The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power. This occurs by a process of subtraction — it urges us to let go of whatever disempowers us. It’s thus an excellent time to look at “old” fears, limiting habits or emotional attachments, especially those stemming from past traumas.
Moon in Scorpio tends to run right over ambiguity — it’s “in or out”, “with us or against us”, “love me or leave me”. It can be stormy — a cold winter storm, or a torrid tropical storm of passion, depending on how we “work” the energies 🙂
Manipulation and paranoia are the lower vibrations of this Moon placement, so as best as you are able,…

Manipulation and paranoia are the lower vibrations of this aspect, so best as you are able, be straightforward — act in good faith and assume it in others. Best of all, be truly present to the fluctuations of your feelings — no matter if they’re “polite” or “timely”. Feelings aren’t facts, but they are information — and heeding them will help you embrace all of who you are.
Know thyself — and love thyself — you shall be set free. Remember: Love connects us to the Power within; Fear causes “Force” to show up — and that’s ultimately what disempowers us and others.
Tuesday, Sept. 3rd:
Tuesday, the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio all day (see Monday evening for details).
Tuesday late morning, a Mercury/Mars alignment in almost 10 degrees of Virgo becomes exact at 11:40am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from last Sunday morning (Sept. 1st) on; it will remain strong until this Thursday evening. This alignment might speed up our thinking (and possibly also our driving 😉
We communicate with curiosity, enthusiasm and energy, especially on the subjects of health issues or reform, the organization of our daily lives, refining our understanding of how something functions — and anything connected to nutrition and wholesome diets. We seek the very heart of a subject.
Something to be aware of: We may take things a little too personally. This defensiveness could make it challenging for others to engage in healthy dialogue with us. We may focus too much on ourselves and get attached to being “right” over being happy.
As best as you can, observe and discern, rather than judge. Consider all the facts. If you find yourself becoming impatient, draw a deep breath into your lower belly, and feel the the breath soothing and clearing your mind…
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 7-13 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, or Sagittarius? If so, you will feel this alignment quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Aries (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Mars rules Aries).
Tuesday afternoon (and especially after 1:58pm EDT): if you set Intentions last week Friday, Saturday or Sunday after the New Moon became exact, today will be the best time to start taking relevant actions. If you wrote your intentions down, go back and take another look at what came through intuitively. If you didn’t write anything down, get quiet for a moment and check in with yourself: What actions are calling to me?
Tuesday late evening, a Sun/Mercury alignment in almost 10.5 degrees of Virgo becomes exact at 9:40pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect from last week, Saturday evening (Aug. 31st) on; it will remain strong until this Friday evening. This aspect indicates a confident mind and an analytical approach to life. Intelligence and communication abilities are strong at this time; however, we may not listen as well as the other speaks — we might be too busy thinking about what to say next.
As this alignment takes place in Virgo, we may be particularly judgmental, but it may not always serve us to to get stuck on details or insist on things being perfect. We want an active role in communications — it’s very hard for us to passively listen and absorb information right now. What we say or write now has impact, so as best as you can, choose your words wisely.
If people hung on your every word, what would you say then? What would you hold back from saying? Our opinions are strong and our thinking independent — and we’re proud of both — our egos may therefore get bruised if we don’t feel “heard”. As best as you can, express yourself fully, knowing that others may have different opinion and that’s ok.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 7-14 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini or Sagittarius? If so, you will be more affected by this alignment. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo, Gemini or Virgo (the Sun rules Leo; Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo)
Wednesday, Sept. 4th:
Wednesday, the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio until 11:08pm EDT (see Monday evening for details).
Wednesday at 6:58am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for a little over 16 hours until 11:08pm EDT. Use this intuitive time as an opportunity to focus on inner processes. As best as you can, release any fears or traumas that keep you stuck in the past, and deepen your connection to what you feel deeply passionate about, out there in the world.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Wednesday morning until the late evening ahead of time.
Wednesday morning, a Venus/Neptune opposition becomes exact at 7:26am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from last week Sunday evening (Sept. 1st) on, it will remain strong until this Friday evening. We are ready to dissolve anything that we valued in the past that no longer serves either ourselves or humanity.
Our relationships might feel confusing or disappointing, they might even be some of the things “dissolving” — but this is helping us get more connected with our inner knowingness, or our inner sensing of what feels “right”. Compassion may play a big role in our interactions.
This also might not be the best time to start a new relationship, as we have the tendency to idealize others, leading to disappointment down the line. As best as you can, find your inner balance with what’s real and what’s not… and allow others to be human, limitations and all 😉
Financially, we may want to invest in creative or spiritual endeavors that include others, but hold off on buying anything concrete or practical until after Sept. 6th.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 14-21 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, or Sagittarius? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Pisces (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Neptune rules Pisces).
Wednesday at 11:08pm EDT, the Moon moves into optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius, where it will journey until Saturday morning. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. The Sagittarius Moon persuades us to come from intuition and think in a broader manner.
We seek meaning and ideas that expand upon the “here and now”; we pursue truth and a new vision — the big picture, rather than the details. Spontaneity is key, we’d rather improvise than plan; this may tip into just “winging it”. We could also overdo or overstate. This Moon placement also start the build up towards the first Quarter Moon (exact Thursday late evening).
Thursday, Sept. 5th:
Thursday, the Moon remains in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day (see Wednesday late evening for details).
Thursday morning, we might find ourselves wanting to explore a new healing modality for body, mind, and heart, aimed at renewing our enthusiasm for life. We are capable of being compassionate and forgiving with ourselves at this time — and a gentle and holistic approach is best.
Also, Thursday morning, a harmonious Mercury/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 8:37am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Tuesday evening on, it will remain strong until Saturday morning. It will help to interact with integrity and commitment. We can set aside unrealistic views and make concrete, practical plans, that help us explore our long-term goals.
We “get to the point” with no wasted time or words. Looking to build solid, truthful foundations for our future, we speak our truth tempered with adult caution and moderation. The reality of our long-term goals becomes clearer and our thought processes more realistic — and it’s important for us to think about what works (and what doesn’t) on a daily basis, to remain aligned with those long-term goals.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 11-17 degrees of Virgo, Capricorn, or Taurus? If so, you will be more blessed by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Capricorn (Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo; Saturn rules Capricorn)
Thursday late morning: we experience a need for inner adjustments. We feel uneasy or awkward and need to make a choice. Making this choice demands we develop inner awareness around two very different urges: on the one hand, the desire to mentally explore and go beyond what we already know — and on the other hand, the need for breakthroughs or change connected to the physical plane.
We need to ask ourselves here: What might become possible if I got 5% more comfortable with being uncomfortable? Or 5% more comfortable embracing uncertainty?
Thursday evening: we may need to make some adjustments; as best you can, honor both your need for adventure and the exploration of life, versus your need to get it “right”, or at least to improve your daily routines.
You may also feel a pull between introversion and extroversion, or simply fast and slow; be as kind to yourself as you’re able. There are no mistakes, no “bad” decisions…
Thursday late evening, at 11:10pm EDT, the first Quarter Moon in 13 degrees of Sagittarius becomes exact. We started to feel this from the moment the Moon entered Sagittarius on Wednesday evening. The Moon in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius makes a challenging aspect to the Sun in detail-oriented, practical, service-oriented Virgo.
We feel compelled to take action. Last week saw the New Moon, on Aug. 30th. If we began a project or initiative around then, it is probably off the ground by now — and facing its first obstacles. This is thus a time to stretch and grow — and create some forward momentum. We may feel anxious or unusually busy. As best as you can, take it one breath at a time. Allow for changes, remain flexible and find creative solutions in your day-to-day interactions with others.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 11-15 degrees of Sagittarius, Virgo, Gemini or Pisces? If so, you will feel the effects of this first Quarter Moon more strongly than otherwise. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
Friday, Sept. 6th:
Friday, the Moon remains in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day (see Wednesday late evening for details).
Friday very early morning, a challenging Mercury/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 3:11am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from Wednesday morning on; it will be strong until Saturday evening. This aspect asks that we grow and evolve in the following areas: how we communicate, think and what or how we share.
We may have to find creative solutions to communicate; we may have to learn about our thinking process and conditioning. “Listening” might not be our strong suit at this time: we want to talk about all the details without limitations, and are thus inclined to exaggeration, often unintended. We might also feel scattered and have a hard time putting our thoughts into practice. The upside to all this: we can be extraordinarily funny, interesting and creative.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 12-19 degrees of Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces, or Gemini? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius).
Friday at 12:03pm EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for a little over 18.5 hours until 6:37am EDT (Saturday morning). Use this intuitive time to make some adjustments in your life. As best as you can, find creative solutions to seemingly unsolvable situations. Make space for your need for adventure and the exploration of life as well as your need to get it “right”, or at least to improve your daily routines.
You may also feel a pull between introversion and extroversion, or simply fast and slow; be as kind to yourself as you’re able. There are no mistakes, no “bad” decisions… and as always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Friday early afternoon until Saturday morning ahead of time.
Friday early evening, a harmonious Sun/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 5:56pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from this Tuesday evening on, it will remain strong until next week, Tuesday evening (Aug. 10th). Commitment and discipline are the keys to understanding our heart’s desire right now. We face life on life’s terms and feel up to doing so (especially when it comes to our creative self-expression).
Ask yourself: What could I achieve if I bought 5% more authentic self-expression to my long-term plans?
Paradoxically, we can also bring a more mature approach to exploring our “inner child” energy. How might a supportive “inner parent” help your “inner child” feel safe to play? How might taking a practical approach to our daily routines serve the long-term vision of ourselves? What if we applied that same approach to health-related routines?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 11-17 degrees of Virgo, Capricorn, or Taurus? Or your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Capricorn (the Sun rules Leo; Saturn rules Capricorn)? If either of those is true, you can expect to be more blessed by this aspect 🙂
Friday late evening, a harmonious Venus/Pluto aspect becomes exact at 11:46pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from this Wednesday on, it will remain strong until next week, Monday evening (Sept. 9th). This aspect brings a fruitful and rewarding period in our lives. We experience new depths of intimacy (with an existing or new partner), we learn to appreciate the important people in our lives, and our value system transforms and evolves.
This is likely an excellent period for finances as well. Work we’ve done might pay off, and we are able to manage our finances better, with more attention to detail, planning, and strategy — as well as the elimination of anything that no longer serves us. We might renew a commitment, or bring new, deeper and more intimate energy into a relationship under the influence of this aspect.
Our sexual lives might get a real boost now, as we tend to want to connect on a deeper level. We might find ourselves strongly attracted to someone, almost to the point of obsession. If this aspect connects with any of your personal planets, you might just meet the “love of your life”.
One thing is for sure — relationships experienced now are bound to be unforgettable. While this transit tends to signal new or strengthened relationships, any relationship that ends during this cycle may leave us feeling liberated.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 18-24 degrees of Virgo, Capricorn, or Taurus? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Scorpio (Venus being the ruler of Taurus and Libra, while Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio).
Saturday, Sept. 7th:
Saturday, the Moon remains in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius and VoC until 6:37am EDT (see Wednesday late evening and Friday afternoon for details).
Saturday very early morning, a Mercury/Neptune opposition becomes exact at 3:18am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from last Thursday morning on; it will remain strong until Monday evening (Sept. 9th). This connection is asking us to balance logic and intuition (left vs right brain). On the one hand, we have strong intuitive connections… on the other, the struggle to focus could lead to confusion or wishful thinking.
We are more inclined to daydreaming, fantasizing and imagining things; this can lead to some frustrating communications. As best as you can, use this aspect to create spiritual connections — or something beautiful, imaginative or inspiring to others.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 14-20 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini or Sagittarius? If so, you will feel this opposition quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Pisces (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Neptune rules Pisces).
Saturday at 6:37am EDT, the Moon moves into practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn, where it will journey until next week, Monday late afternoon. The Capricorn Moon emphasizes our need for structure and forward planning. We are motivated by a desire for success; achievement and manifestation are paramount.
We are resourceful and pursue economy with time, energy, and other resources. We take things more seriously during Moon in Capricorn: we look reality in the eye. This can be a very productive period. As best as you can, avoid “should-ing” on yourself. Take the pressure off: try saying “I am doing the best I can and that’s all I can ever do” 😉
Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn; it is currently transiting through its own sign, making this a great time to take a look at our long-term aspirations and anything that we would like to master over the next 2.5 years. It’s also a great time to take a more serious look at our strategies for self-mastery.
For starters: Do you truly see “what’s so” in your life (as opposed to what you merely wish it to be, or what you would like it to be, or where you see yourself going, etc)? What is actually so right now? Once you have a handle on where “A” is, it’s easier to “go from A to B” — whether “B” is self-mastery or standing on the mountaintop.
Saturday afternoon: we are invited to make adjustments and find creative solutions to seemingly insoluble situations. As best as you can, make space for looking into some alternative exercise programs or holistic approaches to your personal projects and current long-term commitments. Compassion is key 😉
Saturday evening, we are invited to connect with like-minded people, and learn something new about our unique talents or value to the world. We are better able to connect to anything that involves a long-term commitment. We perhaps might also implement revolutionary business practices or government programs that support our values and make life tangibly more enjoyable.
Sunday, Sept. 8th:
Sunday, the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn all day (see Saturday morning for details).
Sunday late morning, a challenging Sun/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 11:27am EDT. We started feeling this aspect build from this Wednesday morning on; it will be strong until next week, Wednesday evening (Sept. 11th). This aspect says “stretch and grow!”. There is a feeling of enthusiasm and excitement in the air; it almost seems as if we could move mountains.
Awareness is key: Be alert for undue optimism, that could lead to overextending or over-promising: As best as you can, stay connected to what’s real — avoid exaggerations, especially when it comes to your life philosophies, and health or work-routines.
This is a time when we can accomplish quite a bit — if we don’t let ourselves get too overwhelmed by all the thoughts and possibilities flooding our consciousness. As best as you can, take it one moment at a time, staying grounded in reality.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 12-19 degrees of Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces, or Gemini? If so, you will be more aware of this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Sagittarius (the Sun rules Leo; Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius).
Sunday late evening, a harmonious Mercury/Pluto aspect becomes exact at 11:09pm EDT. We started feeling this aspect build from this Saturday morning on; it will be strong until next week, Tuesday morning (Sept. 10th). Our words and our “speaking” are very grounded and realistic. We can feel really empowered by what we say (and how we say it) during this time. Our conviction and passion helps us to connect and empower others.
We are strongly connected to our inner truth and can analyze and understand our motivations around long-term goals. We investigate our own thought structures in a very realistic, focused way, and look to see what needs to be communicated next.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 18-24 degrees of Virgo, Capricorn or Taurus? If so, you will be even more blessed by this aspect than those who do not; this is also true for those of us with our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Scorpio (Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, Pluto rules Scorpio)
Sunday night/Monday very early morning, a harmonious Mars/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 12:14am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from Wednesday evening (Sept. 4th) on; it will be strong until next week, Friday (Sept. 13th). This aspect brings more self-discipline, maturity, focus, purpose and self-motivation.
We tend to be more practical than usual; our progress in most projects may be slow, but it will always be steady — as you can imagine, this can be a very productive period, as we are able to take responsibility for our long-term goals and the foundations we are currently building. We can bring honesty and realism to the world, seeing what works and what doesn’t work for us, and we approach things with integrity.
This is an especially favorable aspect for those employed in any of the following industries: Health and wellness, service-oriented industries like consulting, accounting, house cleaning, — and for independent contractors and the self-employed in general.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 11-17 degrees of Virgo, Capricorn, or Taurus? If so, you will be most blessed by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries or Capricorn (Mars is the ruler of Aries; Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn).
And…
A heads up for next Monday (September 9th): the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn until 5:24pm EDT. At 4:30am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 13 hours until 5:24pm EDT; at that time, the Moon move into freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius, where it will journey until Thursday morning (Sept. 12th). More about all the details in next week’s forecast 🙂
