On Dec. 29th, at 10:28pm EST, the Moon opposes the Sun (in almost 9 degrees of Cancer). Relationships of all kinds are highlighted during this time — but with this Full Moon, there is a particularly strong emphasis on family- and business-relationships. If you are already a Member of my online community, feel free to also watch my Members Full Moon video.
This Full Moon shows us how far we have come since the last Solar Eclipse in Cancer (which was exact on June 21st, 2020) when it comes to self-care and any issues connected to family or home — and also how far we have come since November 2018, when the North Node moved into Cancer, and we started our journey towards greater emotional responsibility and self-alignment.
Ask yourself: What have I learned about self-care and where I feel most “at home” over the past two years? What have I learned about my emotional needs? How has an emotional connection to myself and loved ones been of benefit to me? How has it shifted my priorities?
Lots of planets are involved in this Full Moon chart — Mercury, Uranus, Chiron, Saturn, Jupiter, Venus and Neptune — and all play an important role, so buckle up! More about the specifics in regards to all of these planets in a moment…
But first, let’s take a look at the polarities involved with this Full Moon: The Moon in protective, feeling-oriented Cancer opposes the Sun in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn.
We have a heightened sense that something must be brought into balance and reintegrated; the balance in question is between the experience of our feelings and emotional needs (symbolized by Cancer), versus our outer obligations or material, practical goals (Capricorn).
It’s important to realize that we all have limitations and challenges in life — and when we approach those in a nurturing way, taking care of our feeling body and inner baby, and allowing ourselves to receive support from family or “familiar” connections”, we are more likely to overcome those challenges and be realistic about limitations — our own, and other people’s.
Ask yourself: How am I…

Ask yourself: How am I balancing the demands of my outer and inner life? Home life vs. career? Where am I able to be mature and self-reliant — and also contribute? Where am I giving too much? Not enough?
Cancer and Capricorn are both receptive “yin” energies, so clearly we are asked to go within before doing anything. Cancer says we must recognize our own needs in order to feel internally stable — if we don’t manage this, we’ll give our power away to others, becoming victims, sacrificing ourselves for our family, job, etc.
Capricorn seeks to develop an internalized sense of authority and responsibility. This Full Moon is thus asking us to look closely at how we balance taking care of ourselves (Cancer), against how we want to contribute to the world at large (Capricorn) — in other words, where we have reached our limit, and where we need to set some priorities.
Capricorn teaches us to honor all aspects of the physical world; it also urges us to create and build something of long-term use to everyone — Cancer, on the other hand, represents the formation of the emotional body; this helps us navigate life by building an awareness of what is healthy or harmful to us.
Cancer also highlights the importance of a healthy relationship to the “mother” archetype. Being a healthy “mother” to ourselves is just as important as nurturing someone else. The healthy mother archetype represents a caring engagement with our feeling body, and a constant attempt to meet our needs, to the extent possible.
Our feeling body tells us whether our needs are being met. So check in with yourself: right now, in this moment, do you feel happy? Peaceful? Open? Stressed? Depressed? Frustrated?
If your answer was a lower-vibrational feeling, ask yourself: Are my needs being met? What do I need, to feel open and peaceful? Where could I take one small but practical baby-step to bring me one step closer to feeling happy? Or peaceful? How about open?
Sometimes it’s as simple as slowing down, or taking a break, perhaps allowing ourselves to enjoy a hot bath or cuddling up with a loved one, a pet, or a pillow 😉
In order to emerge as healthy beings, we need to be able to nurture ourselves and others, in part by taking care of our feelings and our “inner baby” (Cancer), while also evolving into responsible adults, able to provide for ourselves and others (Capricorn).
Any Full Moon also has us look more closely at the denser vibrations or shadow components of the energies involved. With Cancer, this is our ability to receive and feel safe from within, but what protected us in the past may no longer work — our needs may have changed over time.
Ask yourself: Where do I have the tendency to hold on to the past? Where am I holding on simply because it is familiar? Where am I resisting change? What happens when I don’t allow myself to feel my feelings? Where do I react instead of respond?
The last question is so important, that I created a webinar around it: “React vs. Respond — Where in the chart can we learn about our emotional maturity?“. If you haven’t seen it yet, click here for more info! — currently on sale until Jan. 31st, 2021
With Capricorn, we need to take a look at those parts of ourselves that are domineering, rigid, unforgiving, self-servingly ambitious, status-seeking, and hierarchical.
As best as you can, be really honest with yourself, and ask: How important is status to me? What is my relationship to “control”? Where do I try to control life? Other people?
Where do I control myself by suppressing my needs or feelings? Is it at least possible that a slower step-by-step approach might help me get present to what’s needed in the moment?
In order to develop a healthy inner Capricorn, we must learn to listen to our feelings and honor our needs, rather than disregarding them — only then can we build something of value and move towards mastery.
Ask yourself these questions (and as best as you can, be really honest with yourself): Where might I be taking too little responsibility? Where might I be taking too much? When do I blame? When do I shame myself (or others)? When do I feel guilty? Where do I tend to get defensive? If I had better boundaries, where would I have established them?
Where and when do I tend to look for permission outside of myself? Where have I abdicated my authority — or projected it onto others?
Again, finding a balance between the Capricorn-Cancer polarity is essential in order to truly fulfill our Capricorn goals.
Let’s take a look at some other aspects of this Full Moon chart, starting with the most exact ones: The Moon is the ruler of Cancer, and is currently in its own sign, opposing not only the Sun in Capricorn, but also Mercury.
Since Mercury is the “depositor” of the currently transiting North Node in Gemini, its placement is particularly important for our evolution at this time: We are invited to focus single-mindedly on whatever will be most practical and sustainable in the long-term.
Th Moon’s opposition to the Sun/Mercury alignment in Capricorn urges us to pay equal attention to our inner world, as well as our responsibilities in the outer. Ask yourself: What are my physical- and my feeling-body telling me? What is “Life” trying to tell me?
What do I need to change to be better aligned with my needs? Do I need to move? Pursue another vocation? Heal something from the past? Where do I need to take a leap of faith and work towards something that serves me long-term, something sustainable? What needs to be communicated? What if I needed to think my way through this step-by-step?
This opposition also asks us to balance a loving, caring connection with ourselves and others, against our desire to achieve our long-term goals out there in the world.
As best as you can, steer by your own inner compass and bring your authentic self to the world in a spirit of integrity and responsibility — and keep in mind that as we heal our personal history, we become a source of light and support for others.
Ask yourself: What would self-responsible self-care look like? How does my inner life inform my outer? How might nurturing myself support true self-acceptance and self-kindness? Might it also help grant acceptance and kindness toward others? And even the world at large?
When we understand the Cancer energy fully, we have learned about self-care and receiving — not just giving, or helping others — while with Capricorn, we eventually learn about giving back, not just accomplishing for personal gain or reaching a higher status.
Ask yourself: Where might the balance lie between nurturing and self-care, versus achieving my goals? Are those things really in conflict? Am I doing what I want to do, or what I think I “should” do?
Am I more connected to what nurtures me — or to my “shoulds”? Does my current environment/home support my inner & outer growth? Does it provide nourishing bonds with others? How does all this affect my contribution to the world? My standing in society?
And of course, as always when Cancer and Capricorn are involved: take baby-steps (or if you prefer, “take it one day at a time” 😉 Ask yourself: Why would I sprint if walking got me there at the perfect time?
Check to see where any urge toward rushing or “getting there” comes from — is that coming from a place of fear or love?
Another important aspect worth mentioning is a T-Square involving Chiron and the Full Moon. Chiron in Aries as the Focus point of this T-square experiences a tremendous amount of stress, especially around anything connected to our insecurities concerning the masculine energies or our passions, so ask yourself:
What if I simply accepted the validity of my own desires? Of any feelings of anger? Might this acceptance support a more natural expression of those desires and feelings?
What if I became 5% more conscious of anything connected to a childhood wound that feels triggering to me? What might be possible if I practiced being kind with myself around those triggers? What role does my thinking play in all of this?
The Solution with all T-squares is to focus on the empty leg; in this case the empty leg lands in Libra; we are thus invited to focus our energies on collaborations and win-wins, and on achieving a healthy balance with ourselves and our environment.
Ask yourself: Where is the balancing point? What if I channeled my energies into projects that benefit me and others? How might others contribute to my healing process around the “masculine” energies? What if I didn’t have to do it all by myself?
We also have some more harmonious connections to the Full Moon:
Uranus in Taurus sextiles the Moon in Cancer and trines the Sun in Capricorn. With this combo, originality and innovation come easy to us, as does connection to like-minded people.
Ask yourself: Am I connecting to a larger vision for my future? How do my individual passions and goals connect to a larger contribution for society? What might be possible with a bigger network of like-minded people?
This is also a great time to work with your own astrological chart, or seek other ways to elevate your consciousness, create your own reality, and experience freedom from within.
Ask yourself: What does “my unique value” mean to me? Where might I locate this energy within me? If I found it, what might I do with it? What small (or large) steps could I take to bring my unique vision or preferences to the world?
Remember: what you do for you, you do for everyone… and what you do for everyone, you do for you!
Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, has been in Aquarius since Dec. 17th, where it aligns with Jupiter (also in Aquarius). Both of these giants will stay within 5 degrees of each other until the end of January. The Great Conjunction was exact on Dec. 21st, and is a collective new beginning towards building long-term structures and foundations that will ultimately bring about an expansion for all of humanity.
We are slowly learning to choose from love rather than fear. And we are more powerful than we realize, especially when we come together. Since this is the beginning of a 20-year social-economic cycle, we need to plan for the collective long game.
Evolution happens when we each bring our individual, best Selves to a collective effort; an open heart and mind make this process not only more pleasant, but also faster.
Our inventions and unusual approaches need to focus on long-term sustainability and group consciousness — this is how we will grow and expand as people over the next 20 years.
Ask yourself: What will be my contribution to this 20-year cycle? How can I make a difference in my own communities? How could I get involved and be a part of this new future? What will it take to keep my heart and mind wide open? How can I bring my unique Self to the table?

Now, there is one little obstacle that will become more and more apparent over the next year: Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, is currently in Taurus, and squares both of those Giants in Aquarius. A Square invites us to find creative solutions and to stretch ourselves and grow beyond our past capabilities.
It always relates back to the conjunctions between two planets — and in this case we need to look back to when Jupiter aligned with Uranus on June 8th, 2010, at 0º of Aries, and at when Saturn aligned with Uranus on Oct. 18th, 1988, at almost 28º of Sagittarius.
Think back to those times, and ask yourself: What was beginning in my life? What did I intend for humanity? How did I want to make a difference? What was my role? And what needs to change if I am to complete that journey?
Since these are Closing Squares, we are looking for practical solutions; change needs to proceed from a level of maturity that is informed by our experience of what didn’t work before.
It becomes very clear with this combo that humanity’s evolution and survival lies in equality, collaboration, and respect for the Earth and all its inhabitants. How quickly this shift happens depends on the choices each one of us makes. It is helpful to remember that as the “old” falls away, progress is taking place, always — even if not visible to the naked eye.
Ask yourself: If I wanted to put a solid foundation under my effort to inspire collaboration in my various communities, where would I lay that first cornerstone? What might a co-creative process with our planet look like? How can I honor its resources and ability to support each one of us equally? What is my unique value in all of this?
As the Jupiter/Saturn alignment in Aquarius squares Uranus in Taurus at the time of this Full Moon, we may become quite eager over the next two weeks to make some essential changes in our lives, both collectively and individually speaking.
We are invited to stay detached in our social dealings with others and honor our own individuality without making anyone else wrong for being different.
Ask yourself: How could I honor my own values and allow others to honor theirs? Are other people’s choices really about me? Could I give their “choosing” the space that it needs, so I can honor what’s important to me, without taking things personally?
Uranus also starts to station and become “louder” the day after the Full Moon becomes exact. It will be exalted until Jan. 27th, emphasizing the Square that will be exact on the 17th of both January and February (not to mention that Saturn will square Uranus for most of 2021).
In our next Monthly Forecasting Forum on Jan. 8th, we’ll be taking a look ahead at the whole year to gain some perspective and get an overview of what’s to come: What can we expect in 2021? What are the energies to watch out for, and which are the ones to get excited about?
For example, what can we expect with a potent Saturn/Uranus Square in Aquarius/Taurus for most of 2021? What happens when Mars joins in, while transiting through Taurus, Leo and Scorpio in January, July, and November?
If you want to get ready for 2021, join us live, or get the mp4-video presentation of the live event. Either way, if you are not yet a Star Member, register now! Early Bird Special is still available until Jan. 5th at midnight!
All my Star Members are automatically registered and will receive an invite to join us a day prior and the day of the webinar 😉
Lastly I want to mention Venus, which aligns with the South Node in Sagittarius, and Squares Neptune in Pisces.
When a planet aligns with the South Node, we are invited to release or redefine something that has been running on auto-pilot and draining our life force; in this case, it’s related to any belief systems or perspectives about our relationship to ourselves, others, or to this planet that is no longer serving us.
Ask yourself: What is really true when it comes to relationships (the one with myself included)? What is it that never changes, no matter what cultural filters I look at it through, no matter what angle I take? What is the one thing that connects us all and brings greater joy to my relations with “others”?
Venus’s Square to Neptune in Pisces invites us to have faith, go with the flow, and let our intuition guide us in money and love — and if we are able to do so, we will grow through it. As best as you can, be compassionate with yourself and others — and watch out for any tendency to make hasty decisions or to sacrifice yourself for others!
Ask yourself: Before moving forward with a relationship or making assumptions about someone else, could I tune in and get really clear about my energy body, and what is needed in this current moment? What if I granted 5% more trust to my inner guidance? What might I hear if I listened 5% more closely to the subtle messages of my divine nature?
To sum it all up: Honor your feelings and needs, so you can build something of value, and share the fruits of your labor with the world. As best as you can, be kind, gentle, compassionate, and accepting of yourself — this will help balance the Cancer/Capricorn polarity.
Ask yourself: What if I trusted the timing of things just 5% more? What if I brought 5% more compassion and love to every moment while working towards my achievement? Could I do that just by checking in with my physical and emotional needs from time to time?
What might result from closing my eyes for a minute or two, now and then, to take a moment with myself, to tune in and center myself?
These are challenging times on planet Earth. As best as you can, be extra kind to yourself and others; be proactive rather than reactive. Envision the world in which you wish to live in and move steadily towards that. One step at a time!
During these next 2 weeks, self-care definitely deserves our attention… Make sure you get plenty of rest, affection, water, and healthy nutritious foods 😉

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 7-11 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, or Libra? If so, you are more affected by this month’s Full Moon. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
