Full Moon in Pisces — article | Astrologer Coach Sonja Francis

On Sept. 14th, at 12:33am EDT, the Sun opposes the Moon in 21 degrees of Pisces. The Moon in creative, free-flowing Pisces makes an opposition to the Sun in detail-oriented, practical Virgo — if you are already a Member of my online community, you may also want to watch my video on the subject: click here.

With this Full Moon, we are dealing with two stationing planets in Capricorn — Saturn and Pluto — both of which we will investigate in more detail during our upcoming Forecasting Forum on Sept. 19th. Both are preparing to end their respective Retrograde phases and are therefore exalted.

We are getting ready to move forward on some important long-term goals, but we’ll need to be patient until Saturn goes direct on Sept. 18th; until then, realistically evaluate what’s needed in order to build some healthy, long-lasting foundations for the next phase in our lives.

For a more in-depth interpretation of your own chart, join us live for the Forum on the 19thor get the mp4-video presentation of the live event. Either way: register here now (and also get access to this month’s Full Moon video)

If you are already a Star or Super Star Member, just look out for the Forecasting Forum emails in your inbox (promotional folders or junk mail), on Sept. 19th.

This Full Moon also resonates back to the New Moon in Pisces from March 6th of this year. Think back to that time: what began in March? How might you take that to the next level? What practical action steps could support you in fulfilling on a dream that you’ve had since March?

Now let’s address this Full Moon’s polarities: The Virgo/Pisces polarity has to do with our ability to connect the head with the heart, logic with intuition, matter with spirit. So, the question is: how do we integrate Pisces and Virgo?

This may seem a challenging question, given Virgo’s detailed, analytical understanding, contrasted with Pisces‘ call to open our heart and allow for all… even what seems paradoxical to the mind. In fact, on an energetic level there is no separation, everything is interconnected — we need both left- and right-brain (the logical and the creative).

Ask yourself: What if nothing and no one were separate? Appearing to be different, yes, but not separate…

The mind acts like a filtering mechanism that helps us to focus and function more efficiently. Virgo analyzes, Pisces feels, senses. Virgo seeks physical wholeness, Pisces reminds us of a greater wholeness, a spiritual wholeness — our interconnectedness with all of life, the allowing of all the mysteries of life.

To be at its best, Virgo aims for practical applications and to be of service, while Pisces learns to listen to inner/intuitive guidance above all else, using its imagination to bring love and light into this world, to sprinkle mystery fairy dust, and to create Paradise on Earth.

When these two archetypes are balanced within, we…

When these two archetypes are balanced within, we discern without judgment, serve with an open heart, and improve our daily lives without getting hung up on timing or perfectionism, bringing love and compassion to all of life’s apparent curveballs.

That said, let’s also talk about the shadow side of those signs, as we do with all Full Moons:

Virgo’s shadow side is self-deprecation and judgment; the latter creates separation from others and a split within ourselves. It closes our heart and limits our ability to learn, and keeps us stuck in duality, where we defend and justify our position, or shame others. When we come from this place, we leave no room for mistakes, and have no spaciousness with ourselves or life.

Ask yourself: What if I did 5% less “perfection” and 5% more “process improvement”? What if it were ok if I didn’t know everything 100%? Could I be of service to others while also improving my own understanding of things?

How might “making mistakes” be beneficial to me? What if I celebrated “mistakes” as stepping stones to a better life?

Simply observe: Does my inner dialog observe and discern what is productive vs. what is unproductive (i.e. what works or what doesn’t)… or do I label things as “good or bad”, “right or wrong”?

You could say that Pisces is an antidote to judgment: in its lightest expression, it understands that we are all souls in various states of development, with different paths in the world — we are all love at our core, and everything is ultimately an expression or variation of love.

The shadow side of Pisces is a lack of boundaries, getting lost in illusions, fantasies, and escapism of various sorts (this stems from being highly sensitive, feeling everything, and becoming overwhelmed). It also is feelings of victimization stemming from resignation, passivity, and uncertainty — and ending up at “why is this happening to me?”.

As you may have guessed, the remedy for the Pisces shadow lies in the lighter vibrations of Virgo, including the ability to focus on what works (versus what doesn’t), make practical choices, and make the best use of our daily engagements while taking care of our physical well-being. When the Pisces– and Virgo-energies are integrated, we marry a clear, observant mind with a compassionate and loving heart — a mind in partnership with our intuitive sensing!

Ask yourself: What tools might shift my view of reality from either/or, to both/and? From the mind-activity of “wanting to understand” and “know” to the heart-activity of true understanding?

The Moon aligns with Neptune in Pisces (Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces). This is a call to extend compassion, acceptance, or forgiveness to family, the “mother archetype”, home, and our past in general. Unconditional love for our feeling-body and our responses towards the world is also very helpful right now.

We may feel more sensitive — more tuned-in to other peoples feelings or suffering — and this gives us the opportunity to experience the full range of all feelings as they arise, and to sense our interconnectedness with everything around us. As best as you can, allow for the flow of all feelings, allow your heart to soften — open to the beauty in that connectedness to “all there is”.

Nature is a wonderful teacher for this; if you start to feel overwhelmed by what you are feeling or experiencing, connect with nature.

Spiritual practice is also wonderful here, of course (meditation, breathing exercises, mindfulness exercises, etc.); the same is true of spiritual/energetic healing modalities like Reiki, “Access Consciousness Bars”, shiatsu, acupuncture, etc. These can all help us tap into the higher vibrations of Pisces (and the Neptune-energy as well).

What else can help us experience our connection to “the all”? The creative flow of dance, singing, music, sound, etc. — and of course, positive emotions such as love, gratitude, and compassion.

Similarly to the last New Moon (on Aug 30th), we have another Stellium in Virgo; this time Mars leads, making this an action-packed two weeks. We also have a similar T-Square in place, with Jupiter as the Focus planet, squaring the Neptune/Moon alignment in Pisces on one side, and the Mars/Sun alignment in Virgo on the other.

With this many planets in mutable signs, we might feel restless and pulled in many directions; it’s all definitely keeping us busy, but it could also bring up feelings of being ungrounded or overwhelmed. Ask yourself: Am I feeling overwhelmed? Do I get easily distracted?

If the answer to that is “yes”, as best as you can, center yourself in the here and now. Allow yourself to be present, listen to what’s inside of you (beyond the mind), trust your intuitive Self.

Here are some questions you could ask yourself: What feelings or sensations am I experiencing? Could I allow myself to simply experience that, without attaching any meaning to it? Could I welcome “what is”, right here, right now? Could I welcome all the sounds inside my head? Could I give myself permission to notice what is beyond the mind?

We may also feel a pull between introversion and extraversion, or simply between fast and slow; if you feel such a pull, ask yourself: Could I simply tune in for a moment and see if I need to take a break (or at least slow down a little)? Could I be 5% more compassionate and kind to myself and others? How might a positive attitude towards experimentation coupled with the ability to remain curious serve me for the next two weeks?

The Moon/Neptune alignment in Pisces also sextiles Pluto in Capricorn, and the Sun/Mars alignment in Virgo makes a Trine to Pluto.

Let’s start with the Sextile to Pluto: Surrendering our fears about our position in the world and our achievements gets a little easier; we also have the opportunity to be guided by inspiration, and feel empowered about a project or task that might serve us long-term.

Ask yourself: How might a compassionate heart help me surrender my fears in connection to past disempowerments? What has been in my face lately when it comes to such fears? Is it at least possible that combining my imagination with trust in divine guidance would support me in effortlessly reaching my long-term goals? What might be possible if I also heeded subtle messages from my intuitive heart that stir me toward the kind of success that empowers me and others?

The Trine to Pluto supports clarity around what fears, behaviors, or destructive patterns have been holding us back. Ask yourself: How could my discernment and practical decision-making abilities help me manifest my long-term goals?

Let’s also keep in mind that the Mars/Sun alignment in Virgo might stir up impatience and frustration when things don’t line up perfectly right away. Should this show up for you in the next weeks, ask yourself: What might shift if I trusted the timing of everything that is currently unfolding? What if acceptance of “what is” was key to manifesting my goals? What if the same was true of taking care of my daily routines? Or of my health routines?

Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, is still in its own sign — and given that it is in 29º (together with Venus) at the time of the Full Moon, its energy is therefore exalted. Matters of the mind will be experienced more strongly, as well any relationship issues; as best as you can, use this energy wisely: make lists, look at the pros and cons of a situation, neutrally observes what works and what doesn’t.

This also has a “now or never” theme to it, so ask yourself: What choices do I need to make to smooth the path right now? What is calling out to be simplified in my daily routines?

To sum it all up: We are invited to allow for the flow of things and let go of destructive attachments and connections. Ask yourself: How can I grow and evolve in my daily life? Is there a work routine that I need to grow and evolve out of? Do I have attitudes or perspectives in place that keep me from making progress and experiencing inner peace in my life?

As best as you can, stay grounded in love, not fear. Stay curious and open-minded. Communicate your truth without expecting everyone to have the same beliefs or attitudes.

Each day, indeed each moment, each breath, we have a choice. If we don’t like what happens, we can go into regret, or place blame on something or someone (ourselves included) — or we can set the intention to choose differently the next time around. Each now moment is a new moment — and each new moment empowers us to make new choices — if we choose to do so 😉

For the next two weeks, as best as you can, be kind and compassionate with yourself. Surround yourself with caring, loving energies — and sift, sort, and simply let go of whatever is cluttering your life.

Ask yourself: What if the greatest gift I could give myself was the liberation of my heart-energies? What if “I am separate and small” was the illusion, and “I am part of a larger intelligence & energy field that interconnects me with all there is” were the truth?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 19-23 degrees of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini or Sagittarius? If so, you are more affected by this Full Moon — this is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).

Again, if you are already a Member of my online community, feel free to also watch my video about this Full Moon (click here to watch) — and in the meantime, I will leave you with two beautiful quotes, that really resonate with this Full Moon:

“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal. All of our spiritual traditions teach the same thing. To achieve peace, be peace. Yet how does one be what one is wishing to experience? By making that choice whenever possible, and by causing others to experience what you wish to experience.” — by Neal D. Walsch

“Write down whatever is weighing heavy on your heart — every deep heart yearning, every problem your mind is trying to solve, every health issue, every relationship struggle, every difficult decision—toss it in the God box and let me help you handle it. Then trust me to clue you in if there’s any action you need to take. Then your action will be coming from a different impulse. It will feel like that electric energy that courses through your body, leaps you out of your chair, and compels you to sprint across town to do that one thing I’ve guided you to do—because you’re so gleefully antsy to do it that you can’t quite help yourself! Trust me on this one, my love.” Your Inner Pilot Light — by Lissa Rankin
