On July 5th, at 12:44am EDT, the Moon opposes the Sun in 13.5 degrees of Capricorn — this is when the Lunar Eclipse becomes exact.
This Full Moon is actually the third of three Eclipses; the first one was a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th, followed by a Solar Eclipse in Cancer on June 22nd. Eclipses are always powerfully connected to the Moon Nodes and thus to our Soul’s Journey.

Lots of planets are involved in this powerful Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse chart — Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter, Uranus, Chiron, Mars, and Mercury — and all play an important role, so buckle up! We also have three planets that are stationing (and thus exalted) at the time of this Eclipse — Chiron, Neptune and Venus — indicating that something is in our face and needs our awareness, and we must pay attention to whatever comes up in connection with those energies. More details in a moment…
This Full Moon is also the last of the Eclipses in the Cancer/Capricorn polarity (they began in 2018). This emphasizes that we must complete a journey related to balancing those two polarities and integrating them, both within ourselves and collectively. As such, this Eclipse offers a major reality check, showing us how far we’ve come since 2018.
On Jan. 6th, 2019, we had a Solar Eclipse in 15º of Capricorn, not far from the degree of this Lunar Eclipse; a process that we started in Jan. 2019 is now coming to fruition. Think back to that time and see what long-term goals got initiated back then: what results are you hoping to receive at this time?
Let’s take a look at those polarities: The Moon in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn opposes the Sun in protective, feeling-oriented Cancer.
We have a heightened sense that something must be brought into balance and reintegrated; the balance in question is between the connection we have to our feelings and emotional needs, and our ability to feel emotionally connected to others (symbolized by Cancer), versus our outer obligations or material, practical goals out there in the world (Capricorn).
It’s important to realize that…

It’s important to realize that our long-term goals need our attention — and that they could be the very thing that might bring the fulfillment and inner stability we seek. A realistic approach will work best here!
Ask yourself: Where might the balance point be between the demands of my inner and outer life? If I listened 5% more to my feelings, my body, and my intuition, might I be able to find that balancing point more quickly?
Capricorn seeks to develop an internalized sense of authority and responsibility. This Eclipse is therefore asking us to look closely at how we balance taking care of ourselves (Cancer), versus how we want to contribute to the world at large (Capricorn) — in other words, where we have reached our limit, and where we need to set some priorities.
Ask yourself: What importance does nourishment have in my life? Do I know when I feel nourished? Physically? Emotionally? Spiritually? Mentally? Do I feel a connection with all of life? What’s keeping me separate, limited, or in fear? Could I be honest about that? And once I have acknowledged what that might be, could I decide to let it go, just for right now?
Any Full Moon also has us look more closely at the denser vibrations or shadow components of the energies involved. With Cancer, this is our ability to receive, and to feel safe from within — but what protected us in the past may no longer be the answer, as our needs may have changed over time.
Ask yourself: Where am I holding on simply out of familiarity? What do I need to feel safe in the world?
What if self-care led to self-alignment? What if the same were true of nurturing my feeling body? Given those possibilities, might it be worth spending 5% more time and energy on self-care, just as an experiment?
With Capricorn, we need to take a look at those parts of ourselves that are domineering, rigid, unforgiving, self-servingly ambitious, status-seeking, and hierarchical.
As best as you can, be really honest with yourself, and ask: What is my relationship to “control”? Where do I try to control life? Other people? Where do I control myself by suppressing my needs or feelings? Is it at least possible that a slower step-by-step approach might improve my ability to be present to what’s needed in the moment?
On June 5th, 2001 we had a Lunar Eclipse in the same degree and sign as this one. Ask yourself: What was my main concern 19 years ago? How did I manage to balance the Cancer/Capricorn polarity at that time? What have I learned about myself, my needs, my emotional well-being since then? What is still left to learn?
Let’s take a look at some other aspects of this Lunar Eclipse chart, starting with the Rulers: The rulers of Cancer (Moon) and Capricorn (Saturn) are both in Capricorn at the time of the Eclipse. Which makes Capricorn the dominant energy in this chart. It all comes back down to self-responsibility, integrity, and realism.
Saturn re-enters its own sign on July 1st (Capricorn). Not only does it make a close alignment with Jupiter, and Pluto in Capricorn, it also makes a Quincunx to the North Node in Gemini. So let’s unpack all of that:
The alignment with Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn is not a new one — we already experienced it back in February and March — and this trio will now travel together until the end of the year; this indicates that we might want to take a closer look at our inner processes around self-responsibility, our trust in our own authority, and our attitude towards our own limitations and those of society.
This rare alignment occurs only once every 735 years — and 2020 is one of those years! This marks the ending of an era that began in the year 1285, and the birth of a new paradigm with respect to our social structures, who holds the power, and how we deal with our resources. Transition times can be challenging, as it requires a letting go and a grieving of the past… but the rewards of the new era will outweigh the loss that some of us might be experiencing during this time.
Ask yourself: What is my relationship to power? Do I distinguish between power that comes from within versus power that is connected to external components (including people)? Do I feel empowered around how I choose to contribute to society and the world?
Do I feel comfortable with the social structures that are currently in place? And with the limitations they bring? Where do I feel most restricted at this time? Does this bring up resistance in me? If so, could let go of my resistance just for this now-moment? Could I surrender my fears and concerns 5% more every day around what is and what might be?
Feel free to also read my article about the Saturn-Pluto alignment in Capricorn. and my article about the Jupiter-Pluto alignment. I also have a short video about the Jupiter-Pluto-Saturn Line-up.
The Quincunx to the North Node in Gemini, shows some internal struggles or adjustments that need to be made — we may feel conflicted at times, as we are feeling an internal pull in some very different directions — being honest about our limitations (personally and collectively), slowing things down and getting really focused on what works and what doesn’t on a very practical level, vs. sharing ourselves full-out in the world, staying open-minded, adaptable, and connecting to others as much as possible.
Honesty is crucial here, especially with ourselves; inner awareness is in turn crucial to deep self-honesty and authenticity. Ask yourself: How might I honor the limitations of myself and others whilst staying connected and open-minded?
The Moon in Capricorn opposes the Mercury/Sun alignment in Cancer in this Full Moon chart; and all three square the Mars/Chiron alignment in Aries. This creates a T-Square of sorts, with Mars/Chiron as the Focus point.
So let’s unpack all of that: The opposition to the Mercury/Sun alignment asks us to balance loving, caring connection and sharing, against our need to achieve long-term goals. As best as you can, steer by your own inner compass and bring your authentic self to the world in a spirit of integrity and responsibility — and keep in mind that as we heal our personal history, we become a source of light and support for others.
Ask yourself: What would self-responsible self-care look like? How does my inner life inform my outer? How might nurturing myself support true self-acceptance and self-kindness? Might it also help grant acceptance and kindness toward others? And even the world at large?
Mercury is still retrograde until July 12th: it might be wise to double-check whether what we are doing aligns with our Soul’s Journey. Synchronicity and flow tell us we’re on the right track, whereas miscommunications, accidents, and mechanical breakdowns are often messages to slow down, re-evaluate, and listen more carefully to our intuition.
The Mars/Chiron alignment in Aries as the Focus point of this T-square experiences a tremendous amount of stress, especially around anything connected to our insecurities concerning the masculine energies or our passions, so ask yourself:
What if I could simply accept the validity of my own desires and feelings of anger? Might this acceptance support a more natural expression of those desires and feelings?
What if I became 5% more conscious of anything connected to a childhood wound that feels triggering to me? What might be possible if I practiced being kind with myself around those triggers? What role does my thinking play in all of this?
The Solution with all T-squares is to focus on the empty leg; in this case the empty leg lands in Libra, we are thus invited to focus our energies on collaborations and win-win situations, and on achieving a healthy balance with ourselves and our environment.
Ask yourself: Where is the balancing point? What if I channeled my energies into projects that benefit me and others? How might others contribute to my healing process around the “masculine” energies? What if I didn’t have to do it all by myself?
Chiron in Aries, Neptune in Pisces, and Venus in Gemini are all stationing at the time of the Lunar Eclipse — and are therefore exalted.
Chiron begins its yearly 5-month Retrograde phase on July 11th, adding an extra layer of vulnerability around our personal wounds, and our experience of the “masculine”, both within and without.
We may also have a restless mind and feel impatient, become demanding, or hard to please; we tend to feel like we are not enough, that progress is too slow, and we are tired of waiting.
Ask yourself: Am I moving toward or away from exhaustion? What might shift if my masculine “doing-energy” stood in service to my intuitive, receptive feminine?
Venus ended her Retrograde phase on June 25th; this is a chance to address anything we reassessed over the past 6 weeks around our values and relationships (including the relationships we have with our mind and our environment).
Ask yourself: What have I learned about my inner dialog? About communication in general? My ability to learn something new? My curiosity towards others? Towards myself? What have I learned about self-love and self-trust? Where might I be ready to apply what I have learned?
The good news is that Chiron and Venus make a Sextile with each other for two weeks (strongest between July 5th and the 14th); this provides an opportunity for dialog around our healing process related to our physical-active energies — and also provides an opportunity to heal issues around anger, dominance, and sexuality or gender identity.
Healing happens when we are able to embrace our own imperfections and limitations, and come to see them as valid, rather than as proof that something about us is “broken” or “wrong”. Self-compassion and a greater understanding of our wound-history (aka pain body) helps us embrace ourselves as we are — we may even start to love ourselves because of our sensitivities, not in spite of them.
Ask yourself: Have I felt shame when simply “being who I am” made me seem separate from others? Did being identified with my personal goals or passions, and wanting to go after things for myself, perhaps cause shame as well? Have I ever felt shame for my relationship to anger?
Could I simply acknowledge those memories? Could an open-minded, curious approach benefit my healing journey? What if a compassionate approach to my inner wounded child not only benefited me, but also helped others? What if I simply decided that I am exactly what I need to be?

All right, back to the Stations of this Lunar Eclipse chart: The last of the three planets exalted at this time is Neptune.
Neptune started its 5-month Retrograde phase on June 23rd — and this invites us to access Neptune’s energy from within — our intuition will be very strong during this time. This is also an opportunity to dissolve any barriers that lie between us and our Soul’s guidance.
Ask yourself: Am I sensing my Soul’s desire for love and oneness to the fullest? Am I resting enough? Am I connecting to my intuition? Is anything keeping me from experiencing the flow of life?
If I got really quiet, might I get a glimpse of the love that is always present, within me, and all around me? How might I be 5% more gentle with myself? What if I was 5% more forgiving with myself and others? How might my day unfold if I visualized a transmission of love and compassion when getting up in the morning?
Neptune in Pisces sextiles Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn. We tend to “feel” each other on an energetic level now; a sensitive approach is therefore recommended — we are tapping into the collective experience, so it might also be wise to remember that everyone else is also working with the current energies as best as they can. As such, even if some of us get overwhelmed or confronted by the Capricorn-energies out there (perhaps by facing some harsh realities and inner limitations), we all deserve some compassion, understanding, and forgiveness.
Given this, ask yourself: How can I expand my current point of view around the collective and its limitations? What if kindness towards the world would bring peace into my life and my heart?
What if there was a way to eliminate fear from my system? What if I experimented with spending time aligning with what is, energetically speaking, and allowing the transformational process to unfold?
Lastly, the Moon in Capricorn trines Uranus in Taurus: this aspect invites us to connect with like-minded people, and learn something new about our unique talents or value to the world; we are better able to connect to anything that involves a long-term commitment.
We perhaps might also implement revolutionary business practices or government programs that support our values and make life tangibly more enjoyable.
Ask yourself: What if I could bring both more excitement and more personal vision to what I am aiming for long-term? What might an unconventional approach make possible for me and others?
To sum it all up for this powerful Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse:
Cancer and Capricorn are both receptive “yin” energies, so clearly we are asked to go within before taking action.
Cancer says we must recognize our own needs in order to feel internally stable — if we don’t manage this, we’ll give our power away to others, become victims, sacrifice ourselves for our family, job, etc.
This Lunar Eclipse urges us to become totally committed to letting go of what has defined and protected us in the past — to let go of whatever distracts, detours, or drains us, especially when it comes to our public persona or career.
Ask yourself: What has become too costly in terms of my time? My energy? My resources? Where do I need to say “no” so I can say “yes” someplace else?
When we experience inner balance, we can be both responsible and kind — integrating oppositions brings limitless benefits — so as best you can, focus on what inspires and nourishes you.
Ask yourself: What shifts are needed at home? At work? Where do I need to set clear boundaries? How could I experience more nourishment and support? How might I be of support to myself? What might processing my emotions do for me in the long run?

One last thing to remember: We may feel suddenly tired or sleepy, disoriented, or disgruntled, as our body and psyche re-calibrate and reboot. Whenever you start to feel ‘off’ or stressed, slow and deepen your breathing; stay in gratitude as much as possible. Drink lots of water. Rest, receive, and remember that this planet and everyone on it is engaged in an evolutionary process.
