On June 21st, at 2:41 am EDT, a powerful New Moon/Solar Eclipse in 0 degrees of Cancer becomes exact. This is the beginning of both a new Moon cycle and an Eclipse cycle — in fact, this is the second of three Eclipses within a four week period! I also recommend you watch my Solar Eclipse video on the subject.
And once again we are dealing with lots of exalted energies, this time, due to three planets switching directions within 4 days of the Eclipse: Mercury, Neptune & Venus. More about the specifics in regards to all of these planets in a bit….
But first, let’s talk about Eclipses: You can think of Eclipses as extra-powerful New and Full Moons; the Sun, Moon, and Earth line up in such a way that cosmic energies are intensified, fostering amplified shifts in consciousness and accelerating our evolution.
During a Solar Eclipse, the Moon blocks the light of the Sun, intensifying our connection to our emotional life. Eclipses reveal where we are ready to complete a major chapter and go to the next level. They help us remember our Soul path.
We talked about all three of the current Eclipses in more detail in relationship to our own birth charts during the webinar about the Eclipses — and if you haven’t watched it yet, definitely check it out, here!
Other than booking a reading with me, this is the maximum level of support I offer — and it’s *only $37* for this 120 minute webinar.
This Eclipse is especially powerful, as it happens in an exalted degree — and only 9 hours after the Summer Solstice! The Solstices are important twice-yearly turning points, energetic gateways for the summer or winter season, and often indicate a greater chance of a new beginning of some sort.
The Sun and Moon are both in Cancer — and, as always, they connect to one of the Moon Nodes during an Eclipse — in this case, the North Node.
North Node Eclipses help us explore an energy that promotes Soul-evolution. We have been experiencing Solar Eclipses in Cancer since July 2018, and this will be the third and final North Node Eclipse in Cancer until 2038.
As I mentioned earlier, Solar Eclipses are extra-powerful New Moons, they end one 19-year cycle and begin another. On June 21st, 2001, there was a Solar Eclipse at 0º10′ Cancer (very close to this one at 0º21’ Cancer) which was also connected to the North Node; given this similarity, we are likely to experience a resonance between now and that time — “resonant”, rather than identical — so think back to the summer of 2001 and ask yourself the following:
Were there any major endings back then? Beginnings? What was important? If the call now came to take those priorities to the next level, where would that next level find me?
In Cancer, this New Moon/Solar Eclipse highlights the importance of…

In Cancer, this New Moon/Solar Eclipse highlights the importance of listening to our feelings, focusing on Self-care, healing old wounds from the past, and releasing unhealthy patterns that keep us stuck in the past.
The Cancer energy is also connected to family, home (this could be a physical or emotional “home”) — a shift with past issues around feeling “at home”, “safe” or “nurtured”– both internally and in the world.
Internally, this is about being more rooted in our physical-emotional bodies, and allowing ourselves to explore and celebrate the mother-archetype both within and without — this would be things archetypically “mother-related”, like giving and receiving nurturing, caring for ourselves in terms of our emotional and physical state, and so on.
Eclipses usually unfold over the following 6 month, so over the next 6 months, ask yourself: Am I rooted in fertile ground? Am I thriving? What else do I need to flourish and grow? What has changed for me in the past 2 years in that regard? How does Self-care show up in my life now vs. then?
If you’re looking for more guidance on those questions, I would suggest taking a look at your Natal Chart: The House placement of the Eclipse will indicate which area of your life is most ready to go to a new level of consciousness. Again, if you want to know how these powerful Lunations are going to impact you personally, get the mp4-video presentation about the current three Eclipses, here.
Now back to the Solar Eclipse: Cancer is all about supporting and protecting life, but many of us are conditioned to ignore our bodies and our environment — along with our inner life, feeling-bodies, and emotional/spiritual connection to other life forms.
This creates a disconnect not only from our true selves but also from the rest of the world. Most of us tend to put little value on emotional intelligence, but it’s very hard to have meaningful, authentic connections without it — and it begins with self-connection and self-awareness.
Ask yourself: What might I do differently if my feelings were just little children that wanted to be heard? What price might I be paying for denying or suppressing their little voices?
Could I simply allow myself to feel my feelings without needing to understand them? Without needing to know why I am feeling what I am feeling, without launching into problem-solving? If nothing else, could I try this out as an experiment, just to see what might transpire? And here’s a bonus question: What would the mother-archetype do?
If you are curious about learning more about Emotional Intelligence and how this shows up in your birth chart, feel free to get my webinar: “React vs. Respond — our emotional Maturity” here. Really helpful ways to learn how to work with the Moon in your birth chart.
Now let’s take a look at some of the aspects of this Solar Eclipse chart: The Solar Eclipse quincunxes Saturn in Aquarius, and squares Mars in Pisces.
The Quincunx to Saturn asks us to make some inner adjustments, as we may experience some internal discomfort. Personal comfort and safety is important for Cancer, yet Saturn in Aquarius reminds us that staying attached to the past is not going to lead to new creations, or bring forth new visions for the future.
Ask yourself: What future visions do I have for my various communities – locally or online? Could I stay open to bringing in some new structures, so I can fulfill on my vision and create something sustainable? What is the worst that could happen if I chose “quick” over “quality”? What role does self-responsibility or self-care play in all of this? What if I simply decided to stay adaptable?
The Square to Mars asks us to stretch ourselves and find creative solutions to seemingly unsolvable situations. We tend to feel a bit scattered or dreamy. As best as you can, slow down, get present, and listen to your intuition before aimlessly zooming ahead. Be clear about what’s healthy for you, not in general, but in this Now-moment!
Ask yourself: Am I over- or under-estimating my abilities and capabilities? What if even small actions could produce profound results? Could I give myself a break, when I start to feel restless, anxious, or impatient? How might taking a deep breath support my body and mind, when “restlessness” or “overwhelm” show up? What’s the loving thing to do for my body-mind? Might that also coincide with what’s most healthy for me?
Mercury (ruler of the transiting North Node), currently in Cancer, stationing (exalted) & retrograde, squares Chiron in Aries, sextiles Uranus in Taurus, and trines Neptune in Pisces. Let’s unpack that!
On June 18th — only 3 days before the Eclipse becomes exact — Mercury, the planet most associated with information, communication, and commerce, begins its second retrograde of the year at 14º46′ Cancer, backtracking until July 12th, when it stations direct at 5.5º Cancer.
Mercury Retrogrades occurs 3-4 times a year, for about three weeks each time. These periods sometimes coincide with delays or setbacks, but are necessary slowdowns, impelling us to rethink, revamp, and realign with our Soul intentions. Ask yourself: What has been demanding my attention around communicating my feelings and needs? Family? My physical & emotional home? Self-care? Short journeys? Transportation of any kind? My various communication devices?
Mercury’s Square to Chiron in Aries (the archetype of the wounded healer): This aspect will be in place for quite a while (until July 26th), due to both planets changing directions/stationing; and this aspect asks us to stretch and grow — challenging us to mend the wounded masculine in ourselves.
On the one hand, we want to connect to what’s familiar and stay in our comfort zones; on the other hand, we are asked to be courageous and heal issues connected to anger, violence, or our sexual identity.
As best as you can, make space for feeling vulnerable or emotional without seeing yourself as weak or “less than”. It is perfectly ok to be yourself, to be human, and that may involve feeling insecure or separate once in a while — so give compassion and love to yourself and others. After all, we are all human — not super-human.
If we can allow the inner masculine (taking action, being assertive, etc.) to protect and co-create with the feminine (allowing for feelings to move through, receiving, etc.), we will go further than we can imagine.
Ask yourself: Where does the wounded masculine cry out for my compassionate awareness (or even my care)? What if I gave it also to those who have not been able to model the masculine energies in an “acceptable” way? What if I extended that even to myself, if and when I fall into that category? Even if I get triggered?
Remember: Anger can be reaction to a boundary violation, and/or a cover for another emotion, often fear, sadness, or shame.
What if I give myself permission to make space both for healing limitations around my persona, and for re-thinking home/family issues or the connection I have to my feeling body?

Mercury’s Sextile to Uranus in Taurus gives us the opportunity to connect to family (or our “found family”) and create breakthroughs around things that we enjoy through our five senses (e.g. food). This may also be a good time to find a unique or global approach to financial matters or food distribution and thereby also reach a sense of emotional security.
Ask yourself: What if the whole Universe was intelligent? What if that included every cell in my body? What knowledge would my body want to share? What can I see as a possibility now, that used to seem impossible before?
Mercury’s Trine to Neptune in Pisces: this supports our “flow states” and emotional connection to others; spiritual and creative endeavors are favored with this combo. Our capacity for compassion is quite strong as well, both for ourselves and others, and we are feeling especially intuitive.
Ask yourself: When I tune into myself what do I feel connected to? What if I tune into life itself? What from my past is asking to be released? Where is it time to open myself up fully on an emotional level?
Neptune in Pisces is also stationing, exalted, as it is getting ready for its yearly 5-month Retrograde phase (which starts on June 23rd). This is heightening our focus on our intuition and ideals.
Ask yourself: What has been demanding my attention when it comes to resting, trusting, and allowing? What’s in my face around a long-term dream of mine? How closely am I in touch with my intuition? With my connection to Source/Soul-energy?
Venus in Gemini is also stationing and exalted, as she nears the end of her 4-week Retrograde phase on June 25th. Feel free to read more about all of those Station phases in my Weekly Forecasts! These are available to you once you are a Universal or Star Member of my online community. To get more info about those Memberships and/or to join us, click here.

Venus also trines Saturn in Aquarius, and sextiles Chiron in Aries; the Trine to Saturn in Aquarius promotes a realistic and responsible long-term approach. We have the chance to better align our goals with our values, and share them with others.
Ask yourself: If I am completely honest, what do I truly want for myself and the world long-term? What really matters to me? What would it look like if I build something sustainable and long-lasting within my local or online communities that aligns with my values and my thinking?
The Sextile to Chiron in Aries provides an opportunity to connect with others and, via sharing our experiences, engage in a healing process around our personal identities. If you can, journal on these questions and share your answers with others:
Ask yourself: What role that I identify with needs my love and understanding? What might change if I showed 5% more compassion toward my insecurities? What if I decided to take a more active part in my own healing process? What if I celebrated my flaws, idiosyncrasies, and insecurities?
What if my personal limitations were my main drivers for taking creative or unusual approaches? What if taking a compassionate approach towards myself and others actually made for more fulfilling connections? What has been my experience with all of this so far and where could I gain through learning more?
Some final thoughts for this powerful New Moon/Solar Eclipse: Most conflict boils down to unmet or suppressed needs — when we can identify those needs, and communicate them without judgment or blame, things open up and solutions quickly appear.
If you find yourself involved in a conflict, ask yourself: Which one of my most basic needs is not being met here? Am I feeling unappreciated, unloved? Am I feeling out of control? Unsafe? Am I feeling separate, or disconnected? Am I feeling too close to something or someone, enmeshed?
Once you have established what you are feeling, ask yourself: Could I let go of wanting to feel appreciated or loved, just for right now? Could I let go of wanting to be in control? Could I let go of wanting to be safe? Could I let go of wanting to be one/move closer/merge/belong/connect? Could I let go of wanting to be separate/further away… just for right now? Note that in each case, you are letting go of “wanting”, which is not the same thing as “having”.
Keep in mind that we are living in a new world, from just three months ago, and what worked well before may be holding us back now. We are invited to learn when and how to receive, to be neither stuck in dependency, nor caught up mothering everyone else but ourselves.
Feel free to reach out and get some support, if you are experiencing any challenges or transitional uncertainty. The FREE one-month Star Membership — that I am offering until June 30th — includes a 15% discount on my Coaching-Healing sessions!
As best as you can, beware of jumping to conclusions; speak and listen from the heart, remain curious and open to hearing what is true for someone else.
Between now and July 20th, allow for the new templates to download; stay centered and do your best to ground from within — try using conscious breathing and conscious flexibility — and best of all, see if you can move to the “observer position” when it comes to the emotional and mental body. And, if nothing else, remember: this won’t last forever — in another four weeks, the downloads are complete 😉
As best as you can, allow yourself to be in a quiet, receptive state on the day of the Eclipse. You may also want to ask: What might become possible if I gave this to my body and mind on a regular basis?

Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in 0-5 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, Libra, or 25-29 degrees of Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, or Pisces? If so, you may feel the effects of this powerful New Moon more strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
Setting Intentions for a Solar Eclipse is a little different from the regular monthly New Moon process — after all, we are setting them for the whole 6-month Eclipse cycle, rather than just the next 28 days.
Solar Eclipse Intentions are best done 48 hours after the Eclipse becomes exact — as we are downloading new templates at the time of an Eclipse, and the energies are quite intense, so we want to wait until it all settles down a little before setting our intentions… We also definitely do not want to do this during a Moon void of course.
There are two best and most potent times to set your Intentions for this Solar Eclipse: the first lasts less than an hour (40 minutes), between 2:41am and 3:20am on June 23rd — and the second lasts for 17 hours, between 8:33am on June 23rd and 1:34am on June 24th (in US Eastern Time — i.e. the New York time zone).
Set powerful intentions — after all, they cover the next six months — and if possible, align them with the Cancer energy! If you live in a timezone other than EDT (US East Coast-time), and converting time zones isn’t your thing, I suggest joining my Facebook Fan-page and/or following me on Twitter, as I post reminders when it’s time to set your intentions 😉
While writing your intentions, ask yourself: What if I created a more authentic connection to my feeling-body? Might that improved connection just possibly help me better take care of my needs? How could I make my experience of “home” or “family” more nurturing? What might unfold if I decided to be 5% more caring with my “inner baby”? Could I give myself permission to feel all of my feelings? Then simply relax into them? Maybe even accept them as valid? Knowing that they are temporary, are simply moving through…
