On July 2nd, at 3:16pm EDT, a powerful New Moon/Solar Eclipse in 10.5 degrees of Cancer becomes exact. This is the beginning of both a new Moon cycle and an Eclipse cycle — in fact, this is the first of two Eclipses within the next two weeks!
You can think of Eclipses as extra-powerful New and Full Moons. The Sun, Moon, and Earth line up in such a way that cosmic energies are intensified, fostering amplified shifts in consciousness and accelerating our evolution.
I also recommend you watch my Solar Eclipse video on the subject.
The Sun and Moon are both in Cancer — and, as always, they connect to one of the Moon Nodes during an Eclipse; in this case, the North Node — and North Node Eclipses help us explore anew an energy that promotes Soul-evolution.
As I mentioned earlier, Solar Eclipses are extra-powerful New Moons, they end one 19-year cycle and begin another. On July 1st, 2000, we had a Solar Eclipse in almost 10.5 degrees of Cancer that was also connected to the North Node; given this similarity, we are likely to experience a resonance between now and that time — “resonant”, rather than identical — so think back to the summer of 2000 and ask yourself the following:
Were there any major endings back then? Beginnings? What was important? If the call now came to take those priorities to the next level… Where would that next level find me?
The shift connected with this particular Eclipse began last summer already (July 2018), and will unfold over the next 11-16 months. This shift in question is all about the Cancer energy; which is connected to family, home (this could be a physical or emotional “home”) — a shift with past issues around feeling “at home”, “safe” or “nurtured”– both internally and in the world.
Internally, this is about being more rooted in our physical-emotional bodies, and allowing ourselves to explore and celebrate the mother-archetype both within and without — this would be things archetypically “mother-related”, like giving and receiving nurturing, caring for ourselves in terms of our emotional and physical state, and so on. Over the next 6 months…

Over the next 6 months, ask yourself: Am I rooted in fertile ground? Am I thriving? What else do I need to flourish and grow? What has changed for me in the past 5-10 years in that regard?
If you’re looking for more guidance on those questions, I would suggest taking a look at your Natal Chart: The House placement of the Eclipse will indicate which area of your life is most ready to go to a new level of consciousness.
If you want to hear more about the upcoming Eclipses in relationship to your own birth chart, join us live on July 11th for our next Forecasting Forum!
As a reminder to Star and SuperStar Members: you are automatically registered and will receive an email on the day of the webinar to join live, as well as a video-presentation of the Forum within 24 hours of the live event.
Now back to the Solar Eclipse… Cancer is all about supporting and protecting life, but many of us are conditioned to ignore our bodies and our environment — along with our inner life, feeling-bodies, and emotional/spiritual connection to other life forms.
This creates a disconnect not only from our true selves but also from the rest of the world. Most of us tend to put little value on emotional intelligence, but it’s very hard to have meaningful, authentic connections without it — and it begins with self-connection and self-awareness.
Ask yourself: What might I do differently if feelings were just little children that wanted to be heard? What price might I be paying for denying or suppressing their little voices?
Could I simply allow myself to feel my feelings without needing to understand them? Without needing to know why I am feeling what I am feeling, without launching into problem-solving? If nothing else, could I try that out as an experiment, just to see what might transpire? And here’s a bonus question: What would the mother-archetype do?
The Solar Eclipse trines Neptune in Pisces, squares Chiron in Aries, opposes Saturn and the South Node in Capricorn, and sextiles Uranus in Taurus. So let’s unpack that…
Neptune and Chiron are both exalted at the time of the Eclipse, so we can expect to feel their energies more strongly — we are invited to pay even closer attention to our inner divinity and intuitive understanding of life, as well as to the healing of the wounded masculine archetype within us — how we handle anger, impatience, our desire to dominate, be independent or “show our strength”, etc. (for example, perhaps it doesn’t feel ok to be that way, maybe even the thought brings up shame, and so on…)
The Trine to Neptune supports “flow states” and emotional connection to others; spiritual and creative endeavors are favored with this combo. Our capacity for compassion is quite strong as well, both for ourselves and others, and we are feeling especially intuitive.
Ask yourself: When I tune into myself what do I feel connected to? What if I tune into life itself? What from my past is asking to be released? Where is it time to open myself up fully on an emotional level?
The Square to Chiron asks us to stretch ourselves. Our past conditioning and wounded sense of Self may be out of harmony with each other; we are invited to make adjustments and, as best as we can, find creative solutions to seemingly insoluble situations.
As best as you can, take this as an opportunity to make space for feeling vulnerable or emotional without seeing yourself as weak or “less than”. It is perfectly ok to be yourself, and that may involve feeling insecure once in a while — so give compassion and love to yourself and others. After all, we are all human…
Ask yourself: Where does the wounded masculine cry out for my compassionate awareness (or even my love)? What if I gave it also to those who have not been able to model the masculine energies in an “acceptable” way? What if I extended that even to myself, if and when I fall into that category? Even if I get triggered?
What if I give myself permission to make space both for healing around my self-identity (in other words, for recognizing the limitations around my persona), and for taking care of home or family issues?
For those of you who want to have a better understanding of your personal healing journey, I recommend the mp3-recording of my Chiron-workshop: “Healing with Astrology” (it’s available instantly for FREE with most Memberships, and free with the monthly Universal Membership after 3 months). The opposition to Saturn and the South Node invites us to balance our inner emotional processes and “needs” against our focus on long-term goals, contributions, and social standing.
As best as you can, give yourself permission to connect to your inner feeling processes, listening with a gentle and kind ear. Nurture your “inner baby” while also taking responsibility for your efforts to provide value and put a healthy foundation under long-term goals.
We may experience authoritarian or rigid attitudes — both toward and from others — and this could create some tension or oppositional behaviors. As best you can, remain flexible and practice self-care, doing your best to take care of your emotional and physical body — that way, you’ll stay grounded in reality, and be less reactive.
Ask yourself: How could I be 5% more truthful to myself? How could I be 5% more self-responsible for my self-care? And for my responses to others? What goals or plans have gone out of date? If going slow and steady worked better than pushing and “attachment”, what might that look like? Would I rather be happy or “in control”? Note that all of this also applies when dealing with others — pushing will most likely backfire, and “rigid” will snap.
The Sextile to Uranus gives us the opportunity to connect to family (or our “found family”) and create breakthroughs around things that we enjoy through our five senses (e.g. food). This may also be a good time to find a unique or global approach to financial matters and thereby also reach a sense of emotional security.
Ask yourself: What if the whole Universe was intelligent? What if that included every cell in my body? What knowledge would my body want to share?
Think back to April 22nd, when the Sun aligned with Uranus: what seeds got planted back then? Am I ready for that seed to break through? Where are opportunities are showing up? What connections might serve me at this time?
One last aspect I would like to mention: on July 7th, Mercury begins its second Retrograde phase of the year in Leo. This means that Mercury is exalted at the time of the Eclipse (as it is preparing to come to a halt, and moving more slowly through the sky, just like Chiron).
The Mercury Retrograde urges us to reclaim our heart’s desires, and rediscover what brings us joy. Ask yourself: What am I itching to communicate? Or write? What needs to be expressed? How might my heart and joy contribute to this expression?
If you are not yet a Star or SuperStar Member, but are still hungry to learn more about Chiron’s Station phase and the upcoming Mercury Retrograde, you might want to purchase the video presentation of the most recent Forecasting Forum — we looked directly at our own birth charts to see how they will affect each of us.

Some final thoughts for this Solar Eclipse: Most conflict boils down to unmet or suppressed needs; when we can identify those needs, and communicate them without judgment or blame, things open up and solutions quickly appear.
The Sedona Method (a technique I use a lot in my coaching practice) says that human beings have very few basic “wants”: wanting approval/acceptance/love, wanting safety/security; wanting control, wanting to be separate, and wanting oneness (move closer/merge/belong/connect).
When you experience inner or outer conflict, I have found the following questions drawn from the Sedona Method to be tremendously helpful: In this now moment, is there any wanting approval, control, or safety/security present? Or maybe a wanting to be separate? Or wanting to be one? If the answer is yes to any of the above, could I acknowledge wanting that, perhaps even allow it simply to be as it is for a moment? And just as an exercise in freedom, could I let go of wanting that, just for right now, and just as best as I can?
You can also ask yourself: How could I make my experience of “home” or “family” more nurturing? What might unfold if I decided to be 5% more caring with my inner baby? Could I give myself permission to feel all of my feelings? Then simply relax into them? Maybe even accept them as valid? Knowing that they are temporary, are simply moving through…
As best as you can, allow yourself to be in a quiet, receptive state on the day of the Eclipse. If, like most of us, you have other obligations, simply take 5 minute breaks here and there, if you possibly can — get quiet and be with yourself — your higher Self. You may also want to ask: What might become possible if I gave this to my body and mind on a regular basis?
Between now and July 31st, allow for the new templates to download; stay centered and do your best to ground from within — try using conscious breathing and conscious flexibility — and best of all, see if you can move to the “observer position” when it comes to the emotional and mental body… And, if nothing else, remember: this won’t last forever — in another four weeks, the downloads are complete 😉

Again, I also recommend you watch my Solar Eclipse video on the subject.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 5-16 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Libra or Aries? If so, you are more affected by this powerful New Moon/SuperMoon/Solar Eclipse. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo, the Moon rules Cancer).
Alright, let’s talk about intention-setting: setting Intentions for a Solar Eclipse is a little different from the regular monthly New Moon process — after all, we are setting them for the whole 6-month Eclipse cycle, rather than just the next 28 days.
Solar Eclipse Intentions are best done 48 hours after the Eclipse becomes exact — as we are downloading new templates at the time of an Eclipse, and the energies are quite intense, so we want to wait until it all settles down a little before setting our intentions… We also definitely do not want to do this during a Moon void of course.
The best and most potent times to set your Intentions is therefore either between 3:16pm on July 4th and 2:24am on July 5th, or between 12:25am and 3:16pm on July 6th (in US Eastern Time — i.e. the New York time zone).
Set powerful intentions — after all, they cover the next six months — and if possible, align them with the Cancer energy!
If you live in a timezone other than EDT (US East Coast-time), and converting timezones isn’t your thing, I suggest joining myFacebook Fanpage and/or following me on Twitter, as I post reminders when it’s time to set your intentions 😉
This Solar Eclipse reminds us that to be fully alive requires that we create a balance in our lives; so, while writing your intentions, ask yourself: What if I created a more authentic connection to my feeling-body? And if I did, might it just possibly help me better take care of my needs? And if I did that… might I in turn become a more successful and accomplished citizen of the world?
