Super Full Moon in Libra — article | Astrologer Coach Sonja Francis

On April 7th at 10:35pm EDT, the Full Moon becomes exact in almost 19 degrees of Libra. All Full Moons bring an opportunity for awareness and integration of the traits connected to the relevant Full Moon polarities, especially those that have been neglected or suppressed.

This Full Moon has heightened effects on us for two important reasons: first, it is another SuperMoon (i.e. the Moon is at its closest distance to the Earth); secondly, Pluto is exalted and conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn, and in a square aspect to the Full Moon! All of this increases emotionality and fosters larger shifts in consciousness.

There are lots of other aspects in this Full Moon chart as well, and we will address all of them in a moment; and if you are a Member of my online community, feel free to also watch my Full Moon video here

On Monday afternoon, April 6th, the Moon enters Libra; this starts the energetic build up towards the Full Moon — and 29 hours laterthe Sun in Aries opposes the Moon in Libra.

Ask yourself: How far have I come with the Intentions I set around March 24th’s New Moon? If I’m not where I’d like to be with those intentions, what new course might take me closer to my goals?

The Libra-Aries polarity highlights the spiritual dance between various polarities: individual drives or goals and one-on-one relationships, masculine and feminine, independence and collaboration. Whether we are single or partnered, we are all in relationship to someone — any one-on-one relationship counts here — business, personal, health-related, etc.

For the next two weeks, we seek…

For the next two weeks, we seek balance between ourselves (symbolized by Aries), and others (Libra); it’s important here to realize that relationships are essential to our existence, and that they play a crucial role both in defining and achieving our personal goals/desires.

We are also invited to look at the balance of feminine and masculine within ourselves, our relationships, and our world. Ask yourself: Where has feminine and masculine gone out of balance? What happens when there is too much of one? Of both? What about too little?

Aries symbolizes our requirement to be an individual who is free to explore and express themselves; Libra, on the other hand, represents our desire to feel connected, and see both sides of the coin by looking at contrast and comparison. Ask yourself: Where in my life do I need to be more authentic? Assertive? Understanding and considerate? Who am I being in my relationships? Who am I being in the relationship between me, myself, and I?

The Sun in Aries calls us to look at the roles that “assertion” and “independence” play in our lives. We’re called to find ways to develop a healthy sense of self — and total honesty is crucial here, with ourselves and with others.

As best as you can, allow the higher vibrations of Aries to shine through — these include courage, openness towards the new, directness, and a healthy sense of identity. The “denser/lower” vibrations of Aries can be rash, impulsive, insensitive, and (at worst) combative. Connecting with the highest vibration of Libra will help us stay away from the denser vibrations of Aries.

The Moon in Libra emphasizes the need for collaboration, objectivity, consideration, equality, balance, justice, etc. As you can tell, the spotlight now swings over to our relationships…

The Moon in Libra quincunxes Neptune in Pisces: we are invited to make some internal adjustments. We may want to connect with others, but may also need to tune in to our intuitive inner voice.

Ask yourself: What do I hear when I get really quiet? What if I gave myself those moments of introversion and peaceful union with my higher Self/Source/Soul-self once a day? Just for a moment of time even, if that’s all I can manage right now?

Pluto is exalted (due to its Station phase), conjunct to Jupiter in Capricorn, and in a square-aspect to the Full Moon in Libra-Aries, creating a T-Square: The Jupiter/Pluto alignment in Capricorn is the Focus point of the T-square and is inviting us to make some adjustments and find creative ways to work with the energies at play. So what are these energies?

On the one hand, we are aware of the importance of collaboration and “playing nice”; on the other, we see that following our inner compass and taking care of our own needs is essential as well. At the same time, we are also feeling a very strong pull to be authentic and truthful about our deepest desires and aspirations around what we want to build long-term, and our standing in society. All this places a lot of stress on the Jupiter/Pluto alignment in Capricorn

Since Pluto represents the process of our deepest emotional empowerment, and the place where we align with our divine purpose, we may feel impatient or even obsessive about our career goals or economic future — in fact, we could be facing our worst fears right now. Jupiter magnifies what we are feeling, but also helps us to a new perspective on the darker side of our own psyche — and humor can a be a wonderful way to explore all of this.

Ask yourself: What am I most scared about when it comes to my accomplishments? Do I fear for my standing in society? Am I allowing myself to hear the deepest calling of my Soul? What if I already have within me precisely that which would most help me accomplish what that deepest desire? If that were so, what might that be?

Since the empty leg of this T-square lands in Cancer, we are invited to empower ourselves at home, with loved ones, and to focus on self-care. This is also an invitation to balance our obsessions around an empowered career with our focus on getting plenty of rest, healthy nourishment, and affection.

Ask yourself: What would a powerful approach to self-care look like at home? With family? Elsewhere?

How might nurturing myself support my self-connection? My connection to others? The world at large? How might it support my career ambitions? What if self-care was a first step toward meaningful achievement?

The word: self-soothing came up in one of my Coaching session today… Ask yourself: What does Self-soothing mean to me? What would that look like? How could I nurture myself to the point that I am at once connected to others and yet completely independent?

Venus (the ruler of Libra) currently in Gemini, trines the Saturn/Mars alignment in Aquarius. We feel a strong sense of responsibility to society and see ourselves generally as responsible and trustworthy. This is a good time to approach like-minded people or those in our communities (locally and online) for their input. We are able to actively bring people together for mutual pleasure and benefit. There is also a feeling of flow around a common vision for life.

If you knew you could accomplish something now with ease, what would you pick? Also, ask yourself: What if I connected to myself, then to others, for an exchange of information? How could I personally encourage new approaches and priorities?

Now, with Mars (the ruler of Aries) in Aquarius, aligning with Saturn in Aquarius — and both of those planets squaring Uranus (the modern ruler of Aquarius) in Taurus (all of them in fixed signs) — we get an opportunity to stretch and grow (big time) in regards to our collective and personal individuation process! Squares signal turning points that require a shift in perspective.

Ask yourself: Where do I need to clarify my values? What is the bottom line in the critical areas of my life? Where do I need to be more flexible and think outside the box? Where do I need to negotiate? Where do I need to rewrite the rules? How might a shift in how we relate to self love, allow others the freedom to be themselves?

Allowing for differences in our interactions with others will be very useful for the next two weeks. Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable is another one… and allowing ourselves to embrace uncertainty is a very good one as well:

Ask yourself: When connecting with others, could I agree to disagree, rather than dig my heels in? Could I let go of any wanting to control someone else’s experience, just for now, just as best as I can, just to see what might be there if I did? Could I let go of any wanting to be controlled? Or disconnecting myself from others? What might it look like to honor my own special brand of “crazy” whilst still collaborating and connecting with others?

When thinking about my personal future and that of the collective, could I acknowledge feeling uncomfortable with not knowing? Could I acknowledge feeling uncomfortable with the current amount of uncertainty that I am presented with? Could I acknowledge feeling uncomfortable with the changes that are currently on their way?

Mars and Saturn in Aquarius are inviting us to see that each of us is an integral part of a much larger “field” — that our thoughts, growth, and actions interweave and affect the course of humanity. Together, we are exponentially more powerful — ask yourself: In what small ways might I make a difference in humanity’s future? If I dared to make a massive contribution, what might that look like?

The challenge here might be that we want to support our visionary mental model for an exciting future by connecting in the world with others, while also “getting ahead”, and acting to further our own sense of self-worth or stability (this might include financial stability, physical satisfaction, etc.) Ask yourself: What if I made room for both of these energies? If there were a way to combine both and get more than the sum of the parts, what might that be?

I also want to mention here that we will go over Saturn in Aquarius (the Saturn/Mars conjunction) and the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, in more detail in the next Forecasting Forum — in fact, we apply what’s coming up to our own birth charts, so if you want to know how they will impact you personally, feel free to join us live!

Mars and Venus both sextile Chiron in Aries (the Wounded Healer): This presents an opportunity to connect with others and engage in a personal healing process around our identities and ability to “be who we are”. A humble, gentle approach could bring us progress, so ask yourself: What role do I identify myself with that calls for my love and understanding? What if taking a compassionate approach towards myself and others actually made for more fulfilling connections? Where do I need to take a stand? A risk? A chance? All while allowing myself to be fully human?

Healing happens much faster when we can open to forgiving ourselves and others. Ask yourself: What if a gentler and more holistic approach to my personal goals and aspirations helped to create communities that supported everyone’s differences and unique quirks?

What if I made self-empathy my first choice, before judgment and criticism? How might an honest conversation support my healing journey at this time? Who might I want to have such a conversation with?

Mercury in Pisces sextiles the Pluto/Jupiter alignment in Capricorn, and is still aligned with Neptune in Pisces: this represents another opportunity to having support to release old patterns (on a collective and personal level), and connect to our intuitive knowingness and realign with our divine nature and our sixth sense.

Rest as much as possible and/or be in nature as much as you can. It is also an opportunity to bring compassion and creativity to areas of our lives that need restructuring or rebuilding — again, on a collective and personal level. This restructuring and releasing occurs on all levels — physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Ask yourself: What do I listen to? Could I be still enough to listen to my heart? My intuition? Might I hear subtle and loving messages if I did? What might support me in trusting, relaxing, and going with the flow, as messages come through from within?

What simple action step might instill confidence in an exploration of my personal heart-mind connection? Is there a mental or spiritual process that is asking to be put to use?

Collectively: What might become possible if we softened our focus on manifesting something that helps us feel empowered? What if allowing “feeling out of control” was an opportunity to transform our lives? What if it led us to a more empowered and passionate place? What if we trusted that journey 5% more?

To sum it all up: This Super Full Moon highlights the need to balance initiative, courage, and self-reliance with teamwork, consideration, and fairness. The coming months offer some challenging energies — but also some tailwinds that could carry us along to some big breakthroughs. We are invited to learn how to be conscious creators, mindful of how our choices affect the collective.

As always, double-check whether you are coming from love or fear — and remember that impatience is a manifestation of fear (including the fear that the timing or pace of things is not “right” 😉

Ask yourself: What is the mirror of life showing me? What is the quality of my relationships? Who do I still need to forgive? How do I distract myself and/or stay busy to avoid my feelings? Where am I held back by judgment? Blame? Anger? Where am I in or out of balance in my life? How could a new perspective around Self-care bring me the grounding I need to have healthy responses to the challenges presented to me?

Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in 16-21 degrees of Libra, Aries, CapricornCancer? If so, you may feel the effects of this Full Moon more strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
