Moon Nodes in Gemini-Sagittarius | Astrologer Coach Sonja Francis

On May 5th, 2020 very early in the morning, at 12:49am EDT, the Moon Nodes switched from Cancer/Capricorn to Gemini/Sagittarius; they will remain in those signs until January 2022! The last time the Moon Nodes were in these particular signs was back in October, 2001 – April 2003.

The transiting Moon Nodes show us what our Soul’s Journey currently requires on the collective and personal levels — let’s take a closer look at what this means:

The goal of the collective Soul’s journey is to balance and integrate two apparently opposite energies: our connection to information and communication (symbolized by Gemini), and our ability to see and go beyond the day-to-day, widen our perspective, and explore new paths while honoring our direct experience (linked to Sagittarius).

This will take looking closely at the balance between our mental processes and our quest for a larger truth or meaning.

This is also about being more conscious about our belief systems, perspectives, and attitudes towards life. It’s important to realize that the Sagittarian urge to “go beyond” is essential for our growth; in terms of balancing these energies, that same urge plays a crucial role in how we interact with others and share information (Gemini).

To get a more personal interpretation, we also need to take a look at the House placement of that Gemini/Sagittarius polarity in our own birth charts, as well as the signs involved… we cover the houses in a webinar (I will include a link at the end of this article).

In Gemini, the North Node invites us to make an effort to…

In Gemini, the North Node invites us to make an effort to learn more about our communication skills — how we share or process information — and to look for ways to learn what we need if we are to connect all the dots and communicate intelligently.

Personal growth will now come easier if we are working on our communication skills and our day-to-day interactions with our immediate communities. Staying curious and open-minded (rather than coming from “already always knowing” or assumptions) will bring greater happiness, balance, and fulfillment in all areas of life.

For the next 20 months, ask yourself: Are my communication skills helping me grow? If I were a teacher, would I say I was teaching others as much as learning from others? What else might I need to learn or understand in order go beyond my cultural/religious conditioning? What has changed in the past 9 years in that regard? How could I make my experience of “processing/sharing information” and interacting with others more beneficial for everyone involved?

The Sagittarius South Node insists that we rein in any tendency to be dogmatic with our belief systems and let go of “being right”. The message is to avoid living up solely to the standards of our cultural or religious conditioning and overvaluing our belief systems. In the same spirit, we are invited to be more conscious of any tendency for us to become unquestioningly attached to the stories we tell ourselves about life, to be self-righteous, and to persecute those who differ in their point of view from ours.

It comes down to this: What might become possible if we spiced up our search for a higher truth (and meaning for life’s challenges) with a big pinch of curiosity and open-mindedness? If there was a way to combine day-to-day thinking and mind-engagement with the wisdom we have gained from our direct life experiences… what might that way be?

As always when Gemini and Sagittarius are involved, we may feel restless and impatient; moving fast is what we prefer at this time — but the mind tends to forget that some parts of us may need more time to arrive where it has already leaped. Remember that impatience is a form of fear: the fear of being too slow, or of the timing of things not matching up with our conditioned thoughts or expectations.

Ask yourself: What is the difference between information and interpretation? What might change for me if I questioned my assumptions and what I think I know? Who I think I am? Why things are the way they are? What new information might I spot if I stepped back and took a wider view?

Right now, it’s not about being right, and knowing it all, it’s more about connecting with others on a day-to-day basis in the spirit of mutual learning and sharing of information. You could ask yourself: Would I rather be right or happy? Would I rather be right or connected with others?

What is truth? How is it different from having a life perspective (or an opinion)? Could I be open to discussing my life perspectives or philosophies with others, without needing to be attached to everyone believing in the same story?

What if I was more conscious about my expectations of others and myself? Might that enable me to soften my grip a little?

It’s also worth mentioning that the Jupiter and Mercury transits will impact us more for the next 20 months, since Jupiter is currently in Capricorn, and conjunct Pluto for most of 2020. This emphasizes some very powerful issues that we are currently dealing with on a collective level — a sort of re-birthing of society.

It could bring up feelings of being out-of-control; we may experience, grief, survival fears, or other intense feelings. The more we obsess, the more out-of-control we will feel; the key is to focus on our own personal growth and transformation, and explore new perspectives in connection to our longer-term goal. Observe with simple curiosity what works (and what doesn’t) in the moment, rather than holding on to any outdated belief systems or traumas that no longer serve you, whether collectively or in your own individual life.

Jupiter and Mercury can also be connected to our sense of humor — and humor can be a wonderful way for us to integrate what we are experiencing on an emotional level, allowing us to go deeper into some dark places without losing ourselves. Connecting with others in a humorous way might be just what we need to create a shift in our thinking and perceiving.

Moon Nodes are also connected to the Eclipse cycles; each of these cycles prompts us to evolve and provides an opportunity to progress to the next level of our Soul’s Journey, collectively and individually. The Lunar Eclipse in 15.5º of Sagittarius on June 5th, 2020, will start this new Eclipse cycle connected to the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity. What’s beginning? What’s ending? Are you ready for your consciousness upgrade?

Where is your Soul’s journey taking you over the next 20 months?

We also discussed this in more detail during our last Forecasting Forum, in connection with our own birth charts; if you’d like to know more about how the Moon Nodes’ movements impact you personally until Jan. 2022, click here to get the mp4-video presentation from this webinar.
