New & Unusual Directions — Forecast for Aug. 26th – Sept. 1st
This week’s headline items: the Uranus station ends on Monday; the Balsamic Moon phase starts on Tuesday morning; Mercury changes signs from Leo to Virgo on Thursday early morning; and the New Moon in Virgo becomes exact on Friday morning.
There will be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday early morning (for 15 hours), Wednesday evening (just under 24 hours), and Saturday early morning (roughly 14.5 hours).
Now for this week’s Forecast…
Monday, August 26th:
Monday, the Moon remains in protective, nurturing Cancer all day. With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say and therefore our feelings are more easily hurt — so be kind to yourself and others. Self-Care is key until Tuesday evening 😉
Emotional safety is important to us as well; we like connecting to the familiar and we enjoy nurturing ourselves and others — home and family call to us, for instance. Make sure though, that your glass is filled before letting others drink from it, otherwise you might start to feel drained and resentful.
Monday: Uranus resumes its normal pace through the sky, ending its station. What has come up in the last four weeks around radical change, personal freedom, and needing to individuate? How are you doing at honoring your own individuality?
Monday very early morning, we are invited to make adjustments and (as best as we can) find creative solutions to seemingly insoluble situations. Make space both for healing around anger or self-identity and for taking care of emotional or family issues.
Monday early morning, brings an opportunity to connect to family (or friends that feel like family) and create breakthroughs around things that we enjoy through our five senses (e.g. food). This may also be a good time to find a unique or global approach on financial matters that bring us a sense of emotional security.
Monday late morning, a harmonious Venus/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 11:38am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from last week, Friday evening (Aug. 23rd) on; it will remain strong until this Wednesday (Aug. 28th). This aspect helps us to embrace all that is new and unusual in romance and finance. We are ready to experiment — but not to commit. We have an offbeat, pleasant attitude and people are more willing to socialize.
This is an especially good time for financial undertakings involving any of the following: technology and the internet; metaphysics; the arts; group activities. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, this could be a good couple of days for the stock market indexes…or at the very least, an unpredictable one 🙂
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 3-7 degrees of Virgo, Taurus, or Capricorn? If so, you will be most blessed by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Aquarius (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Uranus rules Aquarius).
Monday early evening, we may experience authoritarian or rigid attitudes, both toward and from others. This could create some tension or oppositional behaviors — so, as best you can, remain flexible and practice self-care, doing your best to take care of your emotional and physical body — that way, you’ll remain able to stay grounded in reality.
Monday evening, requires some inner adjustments. We feel uneasy or awkward and need to make a choice, one that demands we develop inner awareness around two very different urges: on the one hand, the desire to expand our horizons and learn more about life, other cultures, religions, etc. — and on the other hand, the need to nurture ourselves and stay in touch with our feeling body.
Monday late evening, we are in a state of “flow” and emotional connection to others; spiritual and…

.Monday late evening, we are in a state of “flow” and emotional connection to others; spiritual and creative endeavors are favored.
Tuesday, August 27th:
Tuesday, the Moon remains in protective, nurturing Cancer until 7:53pm EDT (see Monday for details).
Tuesday at 4:55am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for 15 hours until 7:53pm EDT. Use this intuitive time to find a balance between nurturing yourself and focusing on building something long-term. Emotional issues from the past may come up at this time with a loved one or a significant other.
This could drive some tension or oppositional behaviors; as best as you can, remain flexible and practice self-care. Connect to the power of love, rather than the power of fear — especially fear connected to any attachments or aversions. If possible, empower yourself and others — and find a balance between your inner and outer world.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Tuesday early morning until the evening ahead of time.
Also on Tuesday morning, the Balsamic Moon phase beings when the Moon reaches 21º of Cancer. This phase lasts until late Friday early morning when the New Moon in Virgo becomes exact (more on that on Friday… In the meantime, feel free to watch my video on the subject – will be posted by Tuesday the latest). We are being asked to slow down and get quiet, so we can listen to our inner sensing/intuition.
For some of us, this might be a stretch. As best as you can: stay grounded, take a deep breath and exhale any tensions. Rather than starting something brand-new, put all that energy into completing existing projects or processes.
This is also a great time for letting go of whatever no longer serves us. What if you could hear the voice of your inner wisdom? What might it be saying?
Tuesday evening at 7:58pm EDT, the Moon moves into fun and attention-loving Leo, where it will journey until Thursday evening. We may lack objectivity and struggle with backing down or compromising. We all love to be admired — or at the very least acknowledged — for our greatness 🙂
So hand out some compliments — let people know how proud you are of them, tell them how much you love them. Come from the heart in this and all other things… be honest and authentic, as best you can. Fun, games and romance are a big part of this energy as well. You might also enjoy spending time with little ones.
If there are no “outer children” around, how about getting in touch with your “inner child” — it’s definitely easier for the next two-and-a-half days. What are you most grateful for today? What would be heaps and heaps of fun? What would be so much fun, you let out a tiny squeak, just thinking of it?
Wednesday, August 28th:
Wednesday, the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo all day (see Tuesday evening for details).
Wednesday morning, a harmonious Mars/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 6:53am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from last week, Friday (Aug. 23rd) on; it will remain strong until this Sunday (Sept. 1st). This aspect signals a time when our energy level is much higher than usual — among other effects, we may find we can work for long hours without fatigue, or feel “driven”, especially in new and unusual directions.
It could be that we receive backing from unusual sources. In general, our efforts are successful and we scale new heights of originality. As best as you can, stay open to new and unexpected things. Highly recommended: Group activities, group causes and connecting to like-minded people who share your passions.
Do you have your Ascendant (or one or more personal planets) in the following: 3-7 degrees of Virgo, Taurus, or Capricorn? If so, you will be most blessed by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries or Aquarius (Mars is the ruler Aries; Uranus rules Aquarius)
Wednesday morning, a somewhat challenging Sun/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 8:17am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Tuesday evening on, it will remain strong until Thursday evening. This aspect operates more on an internal level. We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward — and we need to make a choice. An inner awareness needs to be developed if we’re to see what needs adjusting.
We may feel an internal dilemma around our ability to get things done — a drop in our self-confidence and self-esteem. This could lead to us “hiding out”… which leaves us feeling strangely guilty… which leads to us saying weird things… and we end up thinking “did I really just do that?”
As best as you can, be kind and compassionate with yourself — forgive yourself for having a human moment — this will support your healing process.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 4-6 degrees of Virgo or Aries? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo (the Sun rules of Leo).
Wednesday at 8:07pm EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 24 hours until 7:57pm EDT Thursday evening. Use this intuitive time to explore any “historically-based” beliefs around life, children and your creative self-expression: What if you took an optimistic approach?
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Wednesday evening until Thursday evening ahead of time.
Thursday, August 29th:
Thursday, the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo until 7:57pm EDT (see Wednesday evening for details).
Thursday early morning, at 3:48am EDT, Mercury changes signs from prideful, fun-loving Leo to detail-oriented, practical Virgo. Mercury will travel through the sign of Virgo until September 14th. Mercury in Virgo sharpens our thinking: We see clearly and are more inclined to direct our energy towards day-to-day, practical matters.
After Thursday, creating order in our daily lives, knowing what’s coming next, organizing, planning on a short-term scale, doing errands: All this will come easier. This stands in contrast to our ability to go with the flow, be present, have faith that things will turn out well, no matter what: not so easy 🙂
We may feel that we do things better than others right now and thereby deny them a chance to improve their skills or show us a different method. As best as you can, be of service to others — and remember that perfection is lovely when we treat it as a journey, and a tyrant when we set it as a goal. What if you aimed at continuous, never-ending improvement, rather than at a frozen “perfect”?
Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo? If so, you will feel the need for organization and improvements more strongly.
Thursday at 7:57pm EDT, the Moon moves into detail-oriented, practical Virgo, where it will journey until Saturday evening; turning our focus toward the practical and wholesome. We are generous with our time/services and we love to help others. We also have a fondness for science and anything that makes sense in our world — things and knowledge we can apply and use.
Health might come also into focus at this time. We notice the parts that make up the whole; this is a great time to see if our daily routines (eating, work, self-care, etc.) align with our long-term goals. This Moon placement also starts the build-up towards the New Moon exact (Friday morning)- more about that later.
Thursday late evening, a harmonious Sun/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 11:14pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Monday evening on, it will remain strong until Sunday evening . This aspect connects us to a strong energy field — physical and metaphysical. We feel alive, we want to create a better future for ourselves and others, and we are excited to do it. Watch out for messages from the Universe 🙂
Originality and innovation come easy to us, as does connection with like-minded people. We can celebrate (and leverage) our idealism and unorthodox approaches to life’s challenges. What if you expressed what’s uniquely “you” without apologies? What if you did it with authenticity and enthusiasm? And, looking at things from a different angle: What might be possible with a bigger network of like-minded people?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 3-7 degrees of Virgo, Taurus, or Capricorn? If so, you will be more blessed by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aquarius or Leo (the Sun rules Leo; Uranus rules Aquarius).
Friday, August 30th:
Friday, the Moon remains in detail-oriented, practical Virgo all day (see Thursday evening for details).
Friday very early morning, calls for some inner adjustments. We feel uneasy or awkward and need to make a choice. Making this choice demands we develop inner awareness around two very different urges: on the one hand, the desire to heal our relationship with the inner masculine (assertiveness/anger, leadership, taking actions) — and on the other, the need to tend to our daily work or health routines.
Friday morning, we are invited to connect with like-minded people and learn something new about our unique talents or value in the world. We are able to better connect to anything that requires attention to detail. We might also perhaps implement revolutionary health routines or other systems in our day to day life that support our values and make life more enjoyable.
Also, Friday morning, at 6:37am EDT, the Moon aligns with the Sun in almost 7 degrees of Virgo, marking the beginning of a new Moon cycle. We started to feel the effects of this New Moon the moment the Moon entered Virgo, on Thursday evening. Feel free to watch my New Moon video on the subject 🙂 (Will be posted by Tuesday, August 27th).
This New Moon has an abundance of planets in Virgo. In Astrology we call this a Stellium. It includes: Mercury, the Moon, the Sun, Mars and Venus. In the astrological sense, this list is “in order” — our mind leads — and we are more aware of where our daily lives need improvement and our thought processes need investigation in general.
Ask yourself: Am I over-analyzing things? Is my inner dialog bringing me clarity at this time? If not, what might need simplifying in my life, so I can gain more clarity? What could “simplifying my life” look like?
Mercury is also the ruler of Virgo; it is in its own sign at the time of the New Moon, and its energy is thus exalted. Mercury remains in Virgo until Sept. 14th; this gives us some time to recognize where we have ignored important symptoms, feelings, or hunches — and then to eliminate the unnecessary and/or dysfunctional.
Ask yourself: What does my mind chatter say? Is it helpful? Does it help me make decisions in alignment with my lighter vibrations, my love-vibrations? In other words: Is my mind in service to my heart?
Virgo provides an opportunity to learn about being of service — and what it might mean to strengthen our focus on improving our daily routines — getting organized, for example — and taking care of health matters.
Therefore this New Moon cycle will be a great time to begin new projects that demand attention to detail, list-making, and taking pride in “small” accomplishments. We might start a new health regimen, perhaps by paying close attention to our diet; we could also set up specific routines that help us manage our lives in constructive and mindful ways.
This cycle is all about handling the nitty-gritty details of our day-to-day life in an organized, step-by-step fashion so we can free our minds of clutter. Where could you use more open space?
Things to watch out for: sweating the details, worrying, and being extra-critical of ourselves and others when something doesn’t get done “right”.
Another great way to step into the higher vibrations of Virgo: As best as you can, recognize that humility, self-improvement, and being of service bring you closer to your inner divinity and your Soul’s path.
Ask yourself: How could I, as a Spirit-being, operate more efficiently in the physical world? Might tweaking my daily routines help me function better in the physical world? Might that also support me in being of service? What benefits might I reap when discerning between the essential and the redundant?
Since the New Moon in Virgo also conjuncts Mercury, Mars and Venus, we can ask… To read the whole article and get all the Coaching Questions for this month’s New Moon, click here.
Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in 5-9 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini or Sagittarius? If so, you may feel the effects of this New Moon more strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
The New Moon is also the best time to set some powerful intentions for this month’s Moon cycle. Intentions are best done soon after the New Moon becomes exact — and definitely not during a Moon void of course phase.
So this month, the best time to set intentions would be between 6:37am Friday morning (Aug. 30th) and 4:46am EDT Saturday early morning (Aug. 31st), and then again on Saturday, Aug. 31st, from 7:08pm until Sunday, Sept. 1st at 6:37am (New York-time). If you live in a timezone other than EDT (that’s the US East Coast time zone), feel free to join my Facebook Fan-page or follow me on twitter. I will be posting reminders on Friday throughout the day, Saturday evening, and Sunday morning, to let you know when it is time to set your intentions 😉
Friday early evening, we are more capable than normal of looking at the details, and focusing on what’s sitting right in front of us that demands to be taken care of, so we can get to the next phase of accomplishment. We are invited to look at all the practical implications; we need to slow down and take our time if we are to manifest something that can stand the test of time — rushing things will most likely backfire right now.
Friday evening, we are being asked to stretch and grow — to undertake a process of belief-adjustment. You may feel a little scatter-brained or all over the map. As best as you can, stay flexible — and don’t be too hard on yourself.
Friday late evening, seek a balance between head and heart, facts and faith, reason and intuition. That said, if you can achieve that balance, it’s a great day for being of service.
Saturday, August 31st:
Saturday, the Moon remains in detail-oriented, practical Virgo until 7:08pm EDT (see Thursday evening for details).
Saturday at 4:46am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 14.5 hours until 7:08pm EDT. Use this intuitive time to empower each other around earthly issues and support each other in practical ways. Your attention to detail is enhanced; you might implement new health routines or other systems that support your long-term goals.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Saturday early morning until the evening ahead of time.
Saturday afternoon, a somewhat challenging Mercury/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 1:57pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Friday evening on, it will remain strong until Sunday night. This aspect operates more on an internal level. We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward — and we need to make a choice… so we need to develop inner awareness.
This boils down to feeling “stumped” — we feel like we can’t get our head around things, or make decisions. As best as you can, be kind and compassionate to yourself. Ask yourself: Could I hang out with the inner discomfort this is stirring up, just for right now?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 3-6 degrees of Virgo or Aries? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo(Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo).
Saturday at 7:08pm EDT, the Moon moves into harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra, where it will journey until next week, Monday evening (September 2nd). The energy of the Libra Moon helps us be naturally courteous and diplomatic; we are more polite at this time, as we seek the approval of others.
We very much want to maintain equal, fair relationships at this time, and are therefore open to making compromises and negotiating. These next two days are a great time for mediation — but our need for peace and accompanying aversion to direct conflict could pull us to “yes” more easily than we might like.
We may also be able see both sides of the equation so well that we can’t make decisions. As best as you can, find an inner balance with this and communicate what needs to be said with grace and charm — even if it’s “No” 😉 One last quick note: this is also a great time for anything to do with visual arts.
Also on Saturday, before 4:46am and after 7:08pm EDT: If you haven’t gotten around to it yet, set your Intentions for this Moon cycle… If possible, align them with the New Moon energies that I spoke about in my video — feel free to watch it again if you are not sure anymore 😉

Sunday, September 1st:
Sunday, the Moon remains in harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra all day (see Saturday evening for details).
Sunday very early morning, we become more aware that we need to find a balance between two very different energies — on the one hand, taking a compassionate approach towards our personal goals, while being assertive in the world — and on the other hand, our need to connect and collaborate with others. Ask yourself: what if taking a compassionate approach towards myself actually made for more fulfilling connections with others?
Sunday early morning, calls for some inner adjustments, as we feel uneasy or awkward, and need to make a choice. Making this choice demands we develop inner awareness around two very different urges: on the one hand, we want to innovate in the area of our values (and maybe also have some financial breakthroughs); on the other hand, the feel the need to attend to our one-on-one relationships, supporting them (and perhaps collaborating).
Sunday morning, a harmonious Mercury/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 10:11am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Friday night on, it will remain strong until Monday night (Sept. 2nd) This aspect supports a connection between our higher mind and our day-to-day mind. We are able to receive inspiration from higher places and maybe even look into the future. We are able to communicate our vision for a better future; insights arise from these communications.
Original, creative insights and ideas can appear out of nowhere; as best as you can, stay open to these unique “downloads” — they might change how you see and proceed with life 😉 This is a good time to communicate online, engage in computer-related activities or scientific projects, and also for anything metaphysical. Group activities like Meetups are great things to be involved with right now — especially if they allow us to share our vision for a better future.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 3-10 degrees of Virgo, Taurus, or Capricorn? If so, you will feel especially blessed by this connection. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Aquarius (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius)
Sunday afternoon, a harmonious Venus/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 2:49pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from this Friday on, it will remain strong until next week, Tuesday (Sept. 3rd). This signals a time when we don’t take connections with others lightly; we are more attracted to a long-term commitment than to a “casual” one.
We feel a strong sense of responsibility towards our partnerships and see ourselves generally as responsible and trustworthy. We have an increased sensitivity to the needs of others. Mutual respect and loyalty become especially important to us at this time; this can strengthen and refresh old friendships too.
We bring more maturity, respect and integrity to our interactions — and this is a good time to approach “elders”, authority figures, or “experts in their field” for their input. This doesn’t have to be “solemn” though: What if we connected to each other to be of service? If someone you work with had a message about the process of maturing, what might that message be? What might you be able to contribute to your long-term goals? What might someone else be able to contribute?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 11-17 degrees of Virgo, Capricorn, or Taurus? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Capricorn (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn).
Sunday late afternoon: we are invited to make some adjustments in our lives and find creative solutions to seemingly unsolvable situations. As best as you can, look for solid foundations under any long-term goals currently underway, and for ways to create win-win outcomes for one-on-one relationships.
Sunday evening, we have an opportunity to connect with others for collaboration and an exploration of our beliefs about life. What does expansion of the mind look like? How might a wider view support our connections with others?
Sunday late evening, we are invited to make some internal adjustments. We may want to connect with others, but may also need to tune in to our intuitive inner voice. What do you hear when you get really quiet?
And…
A heads up for next Monday (September 2nd): the Moon remains in harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra until 7:35pm EDT. At 4:34am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for 15 hours until 7:35pm EDT. In the morning, a Sun/Mars alignment in almost 9 degrees of Virgo becomes exact at 6:42am EDT; we started to feel this aspect build from August 24th on, it will remain strong until September 11th. In the early afternoon, a challenging Venus/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 12:26pm EDT; we started to feel this aspect build from Saturday, August 31st on, it will remain strong until Wednesday, September 4th. And, at 7:35pm EDT, the Moon moves into passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio, where it will journey until Wednesday late evening (Sept. 4th). More about all the details in next week’s forecast 🙂
