July 1st – 7th | Astrologer Coach Sonja Francis

Rooted in Fertile Ground — Forecast for July 1st – 7th

This week’s headline items: Mars changes signs, moving from Cancer to Leo on Monday evening; the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Cancer becomes exact on Tuesday afternoon; Venus changes signs from Gemini to Cancer on Wednesday late morning; we can start to set our Solar Eclipse intentions on Thursday afternoon; Mercury’s station intensifies on Thursday, and the planet comes to a halt on Sunday, starting its 3-week Retrograde phase.

There will be four Moon VoC phases this week: Monday early evening (for a little over 3.5 hours), Wednesday late morning (for almost 13 hours), Friday very early morning (for 22 hours), and Sunday early afternoon (for a little over 13 hours).

Before we get to this week’s forecast, I have a quick announcement:
I am honored to say that I have been ask to speak at “Fresh Voices in Astrology”, a 2-day virtual Astrology Summit in August, presented by AstrologyUniversity. My segment is called “React vs. Respond — Where in the chart can we learn about our emotional maturity?, and I will be delivering it on Saturday, Aug. 3rd at 3pm PDT/6pm EDT. If you want to see 13 wonderful talks from Astrologers that weekend, keep it open in your calendar: It’s free, and it promises to be amazing!

Now for this week’s Forecast…

Monday, July 1st:

Monday, the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini until 9:24pm EDT. For the next few hours, we like to learn, connect and interact as much as possible. “Busy” feels good: connecting online, on the phone, or sharing face-to-face, preferably multi-tasking all the way…

The one thing we can do without is boredom: If our mind is not engaged in some way, we might as well curl up and play dead 🙂

Monday at 5:48pm EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for a little over 3.5 hours until 9:24pm EDT. Use this intuitive time to connect with others and share yourself in whatever way, shape, or form feels right to you in the moment: spoken or written word, phone, email, IM, letter, etc.

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Monday early evening ahead of time.

Monday evening, at 7:19pm EDT, Mars changes signs from protective, emotional, safety-oriented Cancer to fun-loving, risk-taking Leo, where it will journey until August 16th. This is a particularly vital position for Mars.

For these next six and a half weeks we will feel a strong need to create in some way. Passions tend to run high, as do desire, will, enthusiasm — and our appetite for risk.

Our ego is tied up with our actions — anything we do becomes a source of great pride — and tempts us to “prideful” positioning. If we can move forward on our personal goals, especially those in alignment with our heart, we could become inspirational leaders.

If you have an Aries Sun-sign or Rising-sign, you are going to feel more fun-loving and competitive; it likely will be a more active time in your life. If you are a Leo Sun-sign or Rising sign, you will feel quite energized and passionate for the next 6.5 weeks. Channeling this energy into physical exercise or a project with your children (or your inner child) might be advisable.

Monday at 9:24pm EDT, the Moon moves into protective, nurturing Cancer, where it will journey until Wednesday late evening. With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say to (and about) us, so be kind to yourself and others. Emotional safety is important to us at this time: We like connecting to the familiar, home or family becomes our sanctuary.

Nurture yourself and others, but remember: Make sure your glass is filled before letting others drink from it — otherwise we might start resenting others for draining our energies.

Also, Monday: this is the last day before the Solar Eclipse in Cancer becomes exact. There is some potent energy coming our way; it would be wise to prepare ourselves to be transformed by it, allowing for our consciousness upgrade to be installed. Feel free to watch my video about this powerful New Moon/Solar Eclipse, if you haven’t seen it yet 😉

This is a good time to slow things down and go within. For many of us, this will be a stretch, as we want to do just the opposite: jump the gun, get started with something new, act impulsively, etc. This is quite common right before a Solar Eclipse. As best as you can, stay grounded, take a deep breath and exhale any tensions and connect to your inner wisdom.

It comes down to this: just for now and just as best as you can… could you simply allow what is… to be? Could you simply be the “observer” until the upgrade is complete?

Rather than starting something brand-new, put all that energy into completing things. Think back to July 2018 — the time of the last Solar Eclipse in Cancer. What did you start around then? How could you complete it, or move it to the next level?

As best as you can, take the days immediately before and after the Eclipse for meditation, contemplation, journaling — anything that supports an objective understanding of your own thoughts and visions.

Of course if, like most of us, you have other obligations: take 5-minute breaks here and there, if you possibly can, get quiet and…

if you possibly can, get quiet and be with yourself (i.e. your inspirational Self, your higher mind). Ask yourself: What might become possible if I gave this to myself on a regular basis?

Tuesday, July 2nd:

Tuesday, the Moon remains in protective, nurturing Cancer all day (see Monday late evening for details).

Tuesday morning, we are invited to make adjustments and (as best as we can) find creative solutions to seemingly insoluble situations. Make space both for healing around anger or self-identity and for taking care of emotional or family issues.

Also, Tuesday morning, brings an opportunity to connect to family (or friends that feel like family) and create breakthroughs around things that we enjoy through our five senses (e.g. food). This may also be a good time to find a unique or global approach on financial matters that bring us a sense of emotional security.

Tuesday afternoon, at 3:16pm EDT, a powerful New Moon/Solar Eclipse in 10.5 degrees of Cancer becomes exact. This is the beginning of both a new Moon cycle and an Eclipse cycle — in fact, this is the first of two Eclipses within the next two weeks!

You can think of Eclipses as extra-powerful New and Full Moons. The Sun, Moon, and Earth line up in such a way that cosmic energies are intensified, fostering amplified shifts in consciousness and accelerating our evolution.

I also recommend you watch my Solar Eclipse video on the subject.

The Sun and Moon are both in Cancer — and, as always, they connect to one of the Moon Nodes during an Eclipse; in this case, the North Node — and North Node Eclipses help us explore anew an energy that promotes Soul-evolution.

As I mentioned earlier, Solar Eclipses are extra-powerful New Moons, they end one 19-year cycle and begin another. On July 1st, 2000, we had a Solar Eclipse in almost 10.5 degrees of Cancer that was also connected to the North Node; given this similarity, we are likely to experience a resonance between now and that time — “resonant”, rather than identical — so think back to the summer of 2000 and ask yourself the following:

Were there any major endings back then? Beginnings? What was important? If the call now came to take those priorities to the next level… Where would that next level find me?

The shift connected with this particular Eclipse began last summer already (July 2018), and will unfold over the next 11-16 months. This shift in question is all about the Cancer energy; which is connected to family, home (this could be a physical or emotional “home”) — a shift with past issues around feeling “at home”, “safe”  or “nurtured”– both internally and in the world.

Internally, this is about being more rooted in our physical-emotional bodies, and allowing ourselves to explore and celebrate the mother-archetype both within and without — this would be things archetypically “mother-related”, like giving and receiving nurturing, caring for ourselves in terms of our emotional and physical state, and so on.

Over the next 6 months, ask yourself: Am I rooted in fertile ground? Am I thriving? What else do I need to flourish and grow? What has changed for me in the past 5-10 years in that regard?

If you’re looking for more guidance on those questions, I would suggest taking a look at your Natal Chart: The House placement of the Eclipse will indicate which area of your life is most ready to go to a new level of consciousness.

If you want to hear more about the upcoming Eclipses in relationship to your own birth chart, join us live on July 11th for our next Forecasting Forum!

As a reminder to Star and SuperStar Members: you are automatically registered and will receive an email on the day of the webinar to join live, as well as a video-presentation of the Forum within 24 hours of the live event.

Now back to the Solar Eclipse… Cancer is all about… to read the whole article and get access to all the Coaching Questions from the video, click here

Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in 5-16 degrees of Cancer, Aries, Libra or Capricorn? If so, you may feel the effects of this New Moon more strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).

Setting Intentions for a Solar Eclipse is a little different from the regular monthly New Moon process — after all, we are setting them for the whole 6-month Eclipse cycle, rather than just the next 28 days.

Solar Eclipse Intentions are best done 48 hours after the Eclipse becomes exact — as we are downloading new templates at the time of an Eclipse, and the energies are quite intense, so we want to wait until it all settles down a little before setting our intentions… We also definitely do not want to do this during a Moon void of course.

The best and most potent times to set your Intentions is therefore either between 3:16pm on July 4th and 2:24am on July 5th, or between 12:25am and 3:16pm on July 6th (in US Eastern Time — i.e. the New York time zone). Set powerful intentions — after all, they cover the next six months — and if possible, align them with the Cancer energy!

If you live in a timezone other than EDT (US East Coast-time), and converting timezones isn’t your thing, I suggest joining my Facebook Fan-page and/or following me on Twitter, as I post reminders when it’s time to set your intentions 😉

This Solar Eclipse reminds us that to be fully alive requires that we create a balance in our lives; so, while writing your intentions, ask yourself: What if I created a more authentic connection to my feeling-body? And if I did, might it just possibly help me better take care of my needs? And if I did that… might I in turn become a more successful and accomplished citizen of the world?

Wednesday, July 3rd:

Wednesday, the Moon remains in protective, nurturing Cancer until 11:19pm EDT (see Monday late evening for details).

Wednesday at 10:25am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for almost 13 hours until 11:19pm EDT. Use this intuitive time to find a balance between nurturing yourself and focusing on building something long-term. Emotional issues from the past may come up at this time with a loved one or a significant other.

This could drive some tension or oppositional behaviors; as best as you can, remain flexible and practice self-care. Connect to the power of love, rather than the power of fear — especially fear connected to any attachments or aversions. If possible, empower yourself and others — and find a balance between your inner and outer world.

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Wednesday late morning until late evening ahead of time.

Wednesday late morning, at 11:18am EDT, Venus changes signs from versatile, chatty & curious Gemini to protective, home & family-oriented Cancer. It will journey here until July 27th; for those 3.5 weeks, we value the following: family, loved ones, our home, emotional safety and real-estate dealings.

We prefer to be around safe, familiar people and places. We’d rather stay home than socialize; if we do go out, we much prefer dinner parties at someone’s home to dining out. When it comes to love, be gentle with each other — and make sure to talk about your feelings.

With regards to our finances, it’s best to stick to what feels safest and most secure. It’s a favorable time for real-estate and interior design, or anything that makes the home more comfortable and livable.

Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus or Libra? If so, you will feel more shy for the next 3.5 weeks. Your heart will want to connect to family and loved ones. If you are a Cancer Sun-sign or Rising-sign, you are going to have more love and beauty in your life, for as long as Venus is in your sign 😉

Wednesday at 11:19pm EDT, the Moon moves into fun and attention-loving Leo, where it will journey until Friday night. We have a chance to appreciate ourselves and our lives — and to connect to the heart. Hand out as many compliments as possible, they will be deeply appreciated 🙂

Fun, games and romance are a big part of this energy. You might also enjoy spending time with little ones. What are you most grateful for today? What would be heaps of fun? What would be so much fun, you squeak just thinking about it?

Thursday, July 4th:

Thursday, the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo all day (see Wednesday late evening for details).

Thursday morning, things flow nicely and we feel excited about new healing modalities. There’s an opportunity here to be compassionate toward ourselves and others and for connecting to our inner child. As best as you can, have fun when connecting with others, bring a healing quality to the table by tapping into your inner joy, explore things on a holistic level, and take a risk.

Also on Thursday: the Mercury station intensifies, as Mercury is preparing to come to halt this Sunday, July 7th (starting its 3.5-week retrograde phase). During this intensified Station phase (which lasts until July 10th in 4 degrees of Leo), we feel Mercury’s energies even more strongly.

Pay attention to anything “in your face” in any of the following areas: communications, short travels, transportation of any kind, communication devices. You will get a chance to make adjustments once Mercury is moving direct again (to be more precise, during the shadow phase that follows).

For the next 6 days, we might experience delays or misunderstandings; things could feel “off” or stagnant. It might be a good idea to give yourself some extra time when getting ready to go somewhere — and that goes for the journey itself, too — especially if you intend to drive or use public transportation. Going with the flow is definitely recommended at this time.

Be extra-patient if you intend to buy, sell or ship big-ticket items, especially if they are transportation or communication devices like anything connected with planes, trains, cars, phones, computers, iPads, etc. Best of all (if possible): wait until after Aug.13th when the shadow phase is over.

Some of us will feel the effects of the Mercury station more than others: those of us who have Gemini or Virgo as our Sun- or Rising-Sign (Ascendant); and those of us with personal planets in 2-6 degrees of Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, or Aquarius.

Thursday from 3:16pm EDT on (until 2:24am EDT on Friday very early morning), is the best time for us to set our Solar Eclipse Intentions. Doing so during a Solar Eclipse is a little different from the regular monthly New Moon process: we are setting those intentions for the whole 6-month Eclipse cycle, rather than just for the next 28 days.

Make them powerful: after all, they cover the next six months — and if possible, align them with the Cancer energy I spoke of in my Solar Eclipse video (feel free to watch it again if you need a refresher — click here to watch 😉

If you live in a timezone other than EDT (US East Coast-time), and converting timezones isn’t your thing, I suggest joining my Facebook Fan-page and/or following me on Twitter. I will be posting reminders to let you know when it is time to set your intentions 😉

Friday, July 5th:

Friday, the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo all day (see Wednesday late evening for details).

Friday very early morning, at 2:24am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for 22 hours, until 12:25am EDT (Friday night/Saturday very early morning). Use this intuitive time to explore any “historically-based” beliefs around life, children and your creative self-expression: What if you took an optimistic approach?

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Friday all day and evening ahead of time.

Friday early morning, feels a little uneasy. We need to develop an inner awareness around our two seemingly opposite pulls: on the one hand, a strong desire to accomplish; on the other, our need for play and fun.
We are asked to bring awareness to whatever it is we feel most committed to: Are we after laughter and joy? Or building a solid foundation? As best as you can, make adjustments as needed, and drop any self-judgment.

Friday morning, we are invited to make some internal adjustments. We may want to have some fun, but may also need to tune in to our intuitive inner voice. What do you hear when you get really quiet?

Friday late morning, feels a little uneasy again. We need to develop an inner awareness around our two seemingly opposite pulls: on the one hand, a strong desire to accomplish; on the other, our need for play and fun.

We are asked to bring awareness to whatever it is we feel most passionate about: Are we after laughter and joy? Or intense and authentic emotion? As best as you can, make adjustments as needed, and again, drop any self-judgment

Friday night/Saturday very early morning, at 12:25am EDT, the Moon moves into detail-oriented, practical Virgo, where it will journey until next week, Monday (July 8th); turning our focus toward the practical and wholesome. We are generous with our time/services and we love to help others. We also have a fondness for science and anything that makes sense in our world — things and knowledge we can apply and use.

Health might come also into focus at this time. We notice the parts that make up the whole; this is a great time to see if our daily routines (eating, work, self-care, etc.) align with our long-term goals.

Saturday, July 6th:

Saturday, the Moon remains in detail-oriented, practical Virgo all day (see Friday night for details).

Saturday until 3:16pm EDT: it is still the best time to set our powerful New Moon/Solar Eclipse Intentions.

And if I did, might it just possibly help me better take care of my needs? And if I did that… might I in turn become a more successful and accomplished citizen of the world?

Saturday morning: this could be a good time to get organized, improve daily routines, and develop more awareness of how that all fits in both with supporting loved ones and with what we need to feel supported by others ourselves.

Saturday late morning, calls for some inner adjustments. We feel uneasy or awkward and need to make a choice. Making this choice demands we develop inner awareness around two very different urges: on the one hand, the desire to heal our relationship with the inner masculine (assertiveness/anger, leadership, taking actions) — and on the other, the need to tend to our daily work or health routines.

Also, Saturday late morning, we are invited to connect with like-minded people and learn something new about our unique talents or value in the world. We are able to better connect to anything that requires attention to detail. We might also perhaps implement revolutionary health routines or other systems in our day to day life that support our values and make life more enjoyable.

Sunday, July 7th:

Sunday, the Moon remains in detail-oriented, practical Virgo all day (see Friday night/Saturday very early morning for details).

Sunday very early morning, we are being asked to stretch and grow — to undertake a process of belief-adjustment. You may feel a little scatter-brained or all over the map. As best as you can, stay flexible — and don’t be too hard on yourself.

Sunday early morning, we are more capable than normal of looking at the details, and focusing on what’s sitting right in front of us that demands to be taken care of, so we can get to the next phase of accomplishment. We are invited to look at all the practical implications; we need to slow down and take our time if we are to manifest something that can stand the test of time — rushing things will most likely backfire right now.

Sunday morning, we seek a balance between head and heart, facts and faith, reason and intuition. That said, if you can achieve that balance, it’s a great day for being of service.

Sunday at 12:50pm EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that lasts for a little over 13 hours, until 2:07am EDT (Monday very early morning). Use this intuitive time to get down to business and focusing on the task at hand; this takes less effort than normal. We are able to tackle anything that requires attention to detail and maybe even implement health routines or other systems that support our long-term goals.

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Sunday early afternoon until Monday very early morning ahead of time.

And Sunday at 7:14pm EDT, Mercury comes to a still stand in 4.5 degrees of Leo (starting its 3.5-week retrograde phase), slowing things down tremendously from Saturday evening until Monday night. Give yourself extra time to go to work for those three days or to get things done. If you are traveling, simply go with the flow… you’ll get there… eventually 😉 The same is true when it comes to all our technological devices…

This Retrograde phase will last until July 31st (and end at almost 24 degrees of Cancer). People worry about Mercury Retrogrades, but it’s important not to stop one’s life during these times. As mentioned above, certain things may take longer, however, investigate your own thought processes… ask yourself: What’s too busy in my life? What if I got really clear about that?

For the next 3.5 weeks, we’ll get a chance to explore our inner child energy, connecting within to our creativity and innocence. It’s also an opening to readdress any communications or new information that came in over the past three months — and the same is true of our mental conditioning.

This is an internal process — a chance to honor and reorganize our thoughts, working from the inside to the outside — rethinking, retooling, and releasing what no longer works.

We also get a chance to readdress issues around healthy self-expression. We can better connect within to whatever needs a playful approach, or simply some kind of revision — we may even get to reorganize our life, and connect more to our creative processes — if we do the inner work of exploring what works for us and what doesn’t.

As always, with a Mercury Retrograde: always read the small print — and re-read a contract before signing (if you have to sign something) — or ask another person for a second opinion… Basically, during these periods, it’s best to be aware of any details that we might have overlooked… and check in with our intuition… and stay open to the possibility of renegotiation or adjustments, down the line!

In general, any Mercury Retrograde is a great time for reevaluating and reorganizing. This is especially true for our thought patterns and decisions (particularly those made in the 3 weeks prior to the start of the retrograde) — but it’s true of our lives in general: we can reach a clearer understanding as to what works, and what doesn’t, and what needs to change.

Reconnecting with old friends, clients, lovers and young family members (especially siblings) is also favored at this time…

Mercury also represents our day-to-day mind; this too is experienced more internally at this time. When it comes to communication, make sure that what you say, write and hear is the same as the intended meaning — and use the spell-checker 😉

Another thing to take into consideration: how does each Mercury retrograde phase affect your personal birth chart. Do you have any personal planets that Mercury will align with during its retrograde journey? The houses of your chart each represent different areas of your life — which of the houses in your chart is affected by this retrograde?

If you are not yet a Star or SuperStar Member, but are still hungry to learn more about Chiron’s Station phase and the upcoming Mercury Retrograde, you might want to purchase the video presentation of the most recent Forecasting Forum — we looked directly at our own birth charts to see how they will affect each of us.

Last chance to get a FREE copy of the entire webinar, and a subscription to my Monthly Forecasting Forums, all by simply signing up for my Star or SuperStar Membership — the offer expires July 8th. Click here to take advantage of that deal!

By the way, if you’re not sure whether it’s for you, you can take it for a “test drive”, by watching the first 25 minutes of this 95-min. webinar here for FREE: click here and enjoy!

As with any retrograde, some of us will be more affected than others, depending on how it interacts with our personal chart. That will be true if any of the following apply to you: Gemini or Virgo as your Sun- or Rising-Sign (Ascendant) — or your Ascendant, Career Point (or any personal planets) in the following: 2-7 degrees of Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius,Taurus, or 22-29 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries or Libra.

And…

A heads up for next Monday (July 8th): the Moon remains in detail-oriented, practical Virgo and VoC until 2:07am EDT; at that time, the Moon moves into harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra, where it will journey until Wednesday early morning. In the morning, a challenging, Venus/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 7:42am EDT; we started to feel this aspect from July 6th on; it will remain strong until July 10th. In the late morning, an opportune Venus/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 11:32am EDT; we started to feel this aspect from July 4th on; it will remain strong until July 10th.

Also in the late morning, a somewhat challenging Sun/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 11:48am EDT; we started to feel this aspect from Sunday late evening (July 7th) on; it will remain strong until Tuesday evening (July 9th). In the early evening, a Mercury/Mars alignment in almost 4.5 degrees of Leo becomes exact at 6:27pm EDT; we started to feel this aspect from July 2nd on; it will remain strong until July 11th. In the evening, at 7:40pm EDT, Chiron’s 5-month Retrograde phase begins in almost 6 degrees of Aries. More about all the details in next week’s forecast 🙂
